I don't mind the decision, however there is some concerns that might rise up with this.
There is no denying there is a lot of great work and love that went into PoE2 creation and design is the same passion that created the current path of exile, but every game is bound to have power creep over the years, maybe is too early to say this but will PoE2 end up doing the same cycle then at the end of the road what's the point? sure it will be a much better version with better graphic and art and all but if they end up doing the same cycle after many years of building on path of exile 2 wouldn't that be almost the same as the current game? it's a possibility and a trap of vicious cycle.
Anyway there is potentials and iam excited for both games hopefully GGG will manage to deliver.
All of those problems were created by the people still influencing PoE2, The streamers on the panel have directly contributed to all of this by releasing builds that taught people to play this way and all of the meta strategies.
They didn't create the problems... The problems are in the current PoE 1 mechanics.
Do they seem unhappy? Heck no they can barely contain the smiles and laughter.

Happy occasion for who? Not for me but i guess my feelings on the matter don't matter? Am i not allowed to be unhappy about it or call some of this out? I beleived in chris wilson and pushed people to support him even when things started to shift, Now here we are and im mad as heck that my faith was for nothing.
Thanks for listening, It's too bad so many people were upset by the changes but i believe everything you did will create a more stable PoE for a wider audience than where it was headed previously.
I count you among the greatest devs of all time in great part due to how this game has managed to hold onto its soul for so long even after the deal with TenCent which scared us all for the future of the game but here it still is chugging along and these latest changes showing just how far you will go to keep this game within the vision.
Blizzard, Bethesda and so many of my other favorite developers fell into ruin leaving behind a husk of their former glory or nothing at all.. but not PoE and not GGG and while i don't agree with everything you do i very much do still believe in you and have faith that even years from now i will be able to play this game and still find new ways to enjoy it.

If you think the decision to make PoE II a separate game was a good decision, I won't argue the point, because that's your opinion. I will argue that GGG promoted this product, solicited financial support for it as presented, then did something else with those development resources. And that is ethically and possibly legally wrong.
For me, it's not even so much about the hundreds of dollars I used to support GGG since 2019, based on this presentation. It's about waiting four long years for them to deliver on changes which would improve PoE 1, only to learn that they had been dishonest about their plans, which, based on information revealed this past weekend, changed YEARS ago, with no notice. It's a loss of trust, and that makes me sick. ='[.]'=

Simple, in my opinion (not based on emotions or corpotalks) having both PoE1 and PoE2 is better than having only PoE2. I can play the game I like more. Simple logic. I don't care what corporations promise, never cared - I want to have fun while gaming and having a choice is better than no choice. It is that simple. And telling me that no choice is better, you are moraly wrong too.
