Chaos to alt ratio ripoff

I gladly pay over market price for stuff all the time. I don't want to be hassled with trading, I pay for fast trades. If someone wants to spend hours trading chaos for alts to make a small profit, more power to em. I could care less, if he makes a few alts off me in a trade but I get what I needed quickly I am happy about the transaction. Bottom line, this is not an issue.

If you'd read what has been said, you'd know why it is an issue. Just because it's not an issue that harms you doesn't mean it isn't one.
i too fas fo youuuuuuu
@Duskbane

Out of interest before the new vendor update just how many times did you try to change a stack of 500 Alts into Fusings? I am willing to bet that you have never done that...amirite?

The reason I say this is because if you had done that more than once you would realise that it was a huge pain in the ass, took a long time & could result in carpal tunnel.

THAT is why people were willing to do the 20:1 trades, it saved them time, effort, pain & boredom. It was a convenience trade, not a scam, not a rip off & not something to warn people about.

Now things are different as we actually have a functional vendor system and I think you will find less and less people doing the 20:1 as a result.

I traded 000's of Alts at 20:1 and I was happy to do so as the time I would have spent to change them all into Fusings was not worth the hassle.

Anyone who farms should understand.

Sigh.. I guess it was only a matter of time before those who did the ripoff trade tried to come out and vilify me. It IS wrong for people making this trade to take advantage of new players. How many of them do you think say "You know, you could go to the vendor and trade 16 of your 20 alts up to 2 fusings and trade those to some other willing guy easily for a chaos too?"

I have a very hard time believing anyone who is making this trade is doing it for peoples' convenience. If you really think that, then you're entitled to your opinion. Nothing about what I've said is wrong.

is that your half assed attempt to try and call me out for ripping people off?

well let me let you in a little seceret, i havent traded one single thing since OB started in game, or in the forums, not even once.

so get off your pedestal, and open your eyes. dont go around trying to imply people are scamming someone or ripping them off when you dont have a fucking clue about who you're accusing.
Things with "increased" and "decreased" in the tooltip are additive ... where as "More" or "Less" are multiplicative ...

You're hardly the only one in this thread arguing against the OP. Grow up and stop cussing someone out just because you assume they were talking to you.

Edit: Re-read your previous post. Really, grow up. You talk like a teenager would talk to someone they thought they could intimidate. I hope like hell you're not an adult yet.

Just posting this as a PSA. I've had to call out about 30 people in the past week or so trying to trade their chaos for alterations and I just want to point out what actually happens when they do this. I know it will probably end up making some more people want to attempt to do this themselves, but it will also protect just as many buyers from being ripped off and hopefully help to stop this.

Normally, any price in a barter system is acceptable. However, when you are actually charging MORE than a vendor, then there's a problem.
What these people do is trade 1 chaos orb for 20 alterations. You can use a vendor to buy 8 jeweller's orbs for 16 alterations, and buy 2 fusings for those 8 jeweller's. They then trade the 2 fusings for 1 chaos orb to another player. They have now made 4 alterations for free out of thin air, for EACH chaos orb they do this with. Eventually this compounds upon itself; for every 4 chaos orbs they trade off in this way, they have made 16 alterations, which ends up being an extra chaos orb. For people who already have a stack or two of chaos orbs, if they can successfully rip enough people off like this, they will stand to profit a large amount.

I'm not trying to publicize this method, but if someone doesn't come out and actually tell people they're being ripped off, people will continue to buy at these prices when they could save themselves some currency. I try to call people on this ripoff when they do it in trade, and usually get multiple people asking how it's a ripoff and then thanking me after I explain, therefore I know this is helpful information.

uh that actually sounds like a lot of work for 4 alt orbs.
I'm with the OP here. These people are actually pretty sick. They use the (poor) excuse about how much work it takes to trade 2 fusings for 1 chaos, as some kind of justification for them overcharging 4 alterations, but it's all bullshit. Also the crappy analogies posted here can (and have) already been shot down.

The worst part about these people is that most of them prey on beginners that might not be aware that you can get fusings from the NPC for a cheaper rate. Honestly, I'm sure the people running this ripoff/scam are the same kinds of people that would steal from a blind person or from their friends when they aren't looking. Pretty low.

Bottomline, if you want to give someone the incentive to sell alterations to YOU instead of the NPC, you actually should charge equal or LESS than the NPC, not more...so a rate like maybe 15:1.

uhh are you kidding? no one is being forced to do any trades.. I can't imagine what kind of person it takes to try and act like someone is a villain for doing a mutually agreed upon trade.
this is something I do, and I do charge more. I also do it with alchemy, and fusings. 1:10 alts.

I do this because a few reasons. Mostly, I do it because some people are desperate, or impatient to trade up to a fusing, and then trade those for a chaos/alt. I am the middle man. It is no scam, it is merely taking advantage of other people who don't wish to do the work themselves.
