Chaos to alt ratio ripoff
Yeah the op needs to realize that he is offering advice, not anything set in stone. You get the best deal that you can at any point in time. For my drop and usage rate fusing to chaos is much closer to 1:1, and I trade as such.
People will trade what they think is worth it. Leave it be. |

op is correct. you are trolling if you disagree.

You know what? I bought for 2 chaos yesterday from a lvl 83 guy. Did I rip him off? Nope. Did he know that the value of this item is more than 2 chaos? I dunno. Some people don't pay attention. Some people just want a fast deal because it's not fun spamming "WTS Chain 2 gcp" whole day long, so they just take 3 chaos for it.
That's how the market works. |

I'd say that before they updated the vendor recently, this was a completely legitimate trade. 20:1 was pretty much worth it if you wanted to avoid spending 15 minutes clicking on the vendor. However now that you can convert the alterations yourself to fusings in moments, I'd say that this rate has indeed entered 'ripoff' territory.

When I read this thread, I just logged into the game to check if all this time I never noticed that a vendor that sells Chaos Orbs for 2 Fusings exists. Apparently it doesn't.
So, how exactly Chaos Orbs have the set price of 1 Chaos = 2 Fusings? Even though fusings are highly sought after, there's a virtually unlimited amount of them available through vendors, while Chaos can only exist through drops and vendor recipes (which are considerably harder now), so they can't really have an exact value. If someone tries to sell a Fusing for 10 Alterations, THAT would be a ripoff because the person who has the alts can just buy a Fusing for 8 alts from the Vendor. But you can't just buy a Chaos with 16 Alts or whatever, so that's where the convenience fee that everyone is talking about comes in. Last edited by Skyver#4049 on Mar 14, 2013, 1:29:27 PM

great post OP don't listen to the stupid trolls

Ummmmm fusings are a complete joke to sell for chaos. You will NEVER have a problem INSTANTLY trading 2 fusings for a chaos. Tons of people need fusings - and mass numbers of them.
I also wanted to point out that people do the same with jewellers orbs. They always try to buy at 6 per alch or 10 per chaos. The best deal you can usually find when trying to trade your jewellers is 4 per alch or 8 per chaos. I've given up trading my jewellers with people its simply 100x easier to just vendor your jewellers for fusings. If you try to sell them at a ratio of 3:1 alch people will act like you're completely ripping them off when in fact if you gave them just one jeweller more, you could get the same deal from a vendor. People baffle me. IGN: PuppiesThrowingKnives

There will always be haters/whiners, like OP and half the posters here. If you dont like it, don't trade. This is a BARTER system, and --link removed-- is a guide not GGG official. Its all open to intepretation, and the need of the individual.
I'm gonna take a shot in the dark, and say I bet that OP is also against the loot timer, that its unfair-too short. Am I right? IGN: RosyRed Last edited by ionface#0613 on May 21, 2013, 12:34:18 AM

" At that restaurant, you do not have the supermarket that sells your $1 bottle of water right next to you. In the town, where you do most trading, you do have a vendor sitting right next to you whose price will never change (unless GGG patches it). " A vendor price is pretty set in stone. You cannot change that. If you're really trading your chaos for 1 fusing apiece, please, trade me all of your chaos. I'll very easily and quickly make fusing 2:1 chaos trades back and have double what I started with. You'd do well to do the same. " Items are a completely different issue. The item in question was worth 2 chaos to him, because that's what he wanted for it. Whether or not it was worth much more to you or anyone else is a different question. However, when trading orb to orb like this, 2 fusings are worth 1 chaos to 99.9% of people who play this game. I've yet to see ANYONE offer less or more in that trade, even before open beta. With that in mind, and the fact that people buy fusings very frequently and en masse, you can get a chaos orb for 16 alterations using the vendor nearly any time you wish. It's a ripoff. " --link removed-- has nothing to do with this conversation. That website does not set the vendor's price, nor does it set the price of fusings:chaos orbs. However, it is a commonly known fact that as I said above, 99.9% of players will trade chaos orbs for 2 fusings and do it very often. I never even said anything about --link removed--, and if you want an ACTUAL opinion, I don't even like that website. And since you asked, I like the loot timer, in fact, I'd love for it to just not be there at all and be D2 cut-throat loot style, though I do appreciate having a couple seconds to get an item the game decides to roll for me. i too fas fo youuuuuuu Last edited by ionface#0613 on May 21, 2013, 12:34:40 AM
