The amout of vendor trash makes me want to quit this game
It would have to be so customizable that GGG shouldn't bother. Instead they should just work on decreasing quantity and improving rarity of gear drops, while increasing the quantity of currency drops. They'd probably get that mix right as fast as they'd be able to put out a highly customizable loot filter - which no ARPG worth its salt should even need.

" I've said this before and I will say it again, unless GGG gives players the option to select what is displayed on their screen there will always be someone complaining about trash. So while it may seem like it would be easier just to nerf iiq and increase iir to fix the issue, that won't fix it, it will still be an issue. It shouldn't be THAT HARD (in the grand scheme of things) to have a base item table with a selection of rarity necessary to trigger displaying, as well as an itemlevel. This is a very quick mock-up of something I am talking about having in PoE. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1H22z0hB4He3gxtTXav6ndNNzASdznkuudxo3JezCRkc/edit?usp=sharing By default the option should be what it is now, if players want to filter out stuff they can choose to do so. Hell they can even go as far as to make this table in a very easy to configure platform and someone can either share configs or make a program to apply setting to various types of bases all at once. But PoE doesn't NEED an item filter, some people don't value items that others do, that is what so great about an item filter, it allows players to pick and choose what they want to see. https://youtu.be/T9kygXtkh10?t=285

" Rarity isn't the problem though. It's the quality of the rarity that necessitates the massive amounts of quantity. No. Calm down. Learn to enjoy losing.

" It actually wouldn't. There's a filter in the game RIGHT NOW that does everything I want- short allocation in parties, with "show all" off. Make those things that it shows me permanent. Bam, instant loot filter. A comprehensive, easy on the eyes loot filter:

"Way to take things out of context. Still, I think a very easy to implement filter would be a good idea. Probably the best one, actually. Do the Antee idea then save the rest of the loot balancing for PoE 2 or something. When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. Some people seem to think that GGG is the one's who directly set the prices of gear, so when gear that doesn't sell well drops more often for them, it must be GGG's fault somehow rather than an issue with their own valuation of items (perhaps they over/under value certain items or mods). That's just not how things work, the players are the one's who directly set the prices of items.
What sells for a lot and is valuable to players today, tomorrow may be much less valuable. What sells for little today, may become super valuable tomorrow if someone makes a popular builds utilizing those particular stats and mods. That's not quite true.
Player consensus is the last in a long line of checks that appraise the value of an item. First on that list, is any (i.e., every) action GGG makes in developing their game. The players set the price, for certain, but they do so dependent upon the effects of GGG's actions. Responsibility (as you're discussing) is shared. But GGG only has a loose and indirect influence on prices; and nerfs or changes in rarity-tiers doesn't affect all items equally. The greatest influence is always the players and whatever the most popular builds are being player the players at a period of time and what uniques, stats and mods they use. This does not necessarily coincide with what is the most strong items or stats at any given time as well, but only the ones that are most popular.
