No respec options? No thanks.

That's exactly what you can do with respec. Only it doesn't take as much time and stops your progress in the game.
The way I see it, if your character sucks so badly it can't keep up with content, you've lost the game. You should have to start over instead of fixing it on the fly. Please try again, as the old arcade games would say.

I won't dignify this with a serious response.
Strill:

1.I GIVE YOU reasons and arguments why curent implementation of respec in PoE sux.

2. I dont want free respecs without any limits etc.. i only stated that current system is bad design-wise (WITH arguments) and it gives basically nothing to ppl that want respecing most - casual players. "Hardcore" (in comas because its not hardcore at all only nolife and "grind more") players dont want/need respeccing, causal players wont use system that forces them to play more with chars they dont want to play anymore. Its so simple that i really dont understand why you dont get it. Game Systems SHOULD BE Player-frienldy... this system isnt.
And cayering to casuals/hardcore/game diff lvl and other bullshit HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ABILITY TO RESPEC.

3. WoW Dual Spec is not nonsense but working and well designed system that helps players to enjoy the game. RIFT have pushed this even further and in RIFT YOU MAY HAVE 6 SPECS ON ONE CHAR!!! What a nonsense game yea? NOT.
Its one of the best skill/specs system designed ever in MMO's.
Sorry but i see what you did there and i see your attitude "WoW is children game" - maybe it is. But is one of the best designed games (when it comes to systems like respecs, combat mechanics, etc...) on the market. Saying otherwise is saying bullshit, no matter what you think about artstyle etc...

Bottom line: because honestly i lost any eager to discuss things about game design with bunch of fanboys and elitist "my game must be hardcore and punishing" (LOL, maybe pray that PoE can do more interesting mobs that melee searmers and archers to ompelment in this "hard" game) i say this last time:

Easy to get respec (in one way or another - Item Shop is one way for example, very good for F2P game) IS A MUST IN MODERN HnS game that want to be succesfull more that couple hundred devoted Beta Players. Current system in PoE that is nothing more thn "grind even more currency items" is piece of crap for this group of players that want respecs most - casuals and semi-casuals.

EOT.

You guys need better representation than this guy and whiteboy. At least someone who reads the posts they respond to.
FFA loot sucks.

PoE forums ignore list script:

0.4: added "ignore" button. ignore list is now saved locally.

yeah, putting points in a passive tree is so hardcore...
how about being challenged by the actual gameplay and the difficulty of the game for a change?

Putting points in a skill tree is irrelevant if you can't use your real skill (I mean the way you position yourself and use your skills, the actual gameplay). That's why the "no-respec" is a nonsense.

With full and easy respecs you can just spec yourself to be a cold witch with many cold dmg passives against fire resist bosses for instance, and thus opportunisticly change your entire build to suit certain situations. You also lose some of the unique feel of a character: every witch/marauder/templar/ranger will feel exactly the same and there's no need to start a second witch to try out something new. Guild Wars sucks btw, and this is not an MMO. Think about that for a second.

Actually..without full respec system...there will be less players playing the game..and more cookie cutters builds will be running around.

Man, over and over with the straw man arguments. On the plus side, if the best you can do is make up arguments, you've already lost.

Full and easy respecs you say?

Change your entire build huh? Like roles in other games?

I got news for you, not only does every witch/temp/Mara feel the same now, people are complaining even the classes feel the same to each other, right now, on page one.

I'll come back after I go think about how Guild wars "sucks".
FFA loot sucks.

This six million seller with one of the best PvP systems and PvP gameplay ever used in online games and whose sequel in most anticipated game of 2012 (beating even D3 in most pools) suck?

Man this thread get better and better with each post. ;)
And of course anti-respec guys are throwing arguments like autocannons. :) oh i forgot.. game "must be hard" and grindy and punishing. Respec system must beeven more grindy and punishing (and it is already - gz for you).
Only then is hard and hardcore, not when the game requires some real skill.

This thread just suck not GW.

BTW. GW is exacly the sam type of game like PoE. Instanced game with lobby-towns. And yes its not MMO - PoE too. WTF?

It's not possible to suck that bad. Take this guy's build. It kills enemies at least five times slower than mine yet it's still viable.
