Loot
" You don't even make sense. Why would I be helping out the guy who isn't sharing with me? Why would I not try to punish him if he is doing something I don't think is fair? Why would I try to push the developers to program a magic "solution" to a problem that maybe won't even show up when you're playing when something can be fixed with dialog or PvP, which are built in every single multiplayer game? And why would you focus on the loot when the reward for playing a game should be the fun had with the game itself? |

Because it is simple add the feature. If you don't want to use it then don't. Simple as that.
Yes good sir, I enjoy slaying mythical creatures.

My brother used to play Ultima Online all the time, and he set up this big role-playing gig where he and his clan of celts lived and fought and made stories with other groups of role-players.
Once World of Warcraft came out, we started playing that and he just kept complaining about how nobody role-plays. He said it's because they're too busy doing instances, quests, and collecting items. I told him over and over, it's not different than UO. You can still go role-play. His suggestion to fixing the problem was to eliminate all those things to do so players would be forced to get more creative and start role-playing. Now is that a good idea? Or is it better to give the players the option to do instances, quest, etc.? If they prefer not to role-play in the game, do you take away their options and force them to role-play or not play at all? My point being, if there is a feature in the game that players would rather use than the one the developers think is best, you don't force them into something. Give them the option and let them decide. If you guys have a problem with players choosing a shared loot system, then create your own game with all those other cut-throat players and do your free for all. Everyone is happy! If there aren't enough players that want to do free for all, then I guess it's not fun and you don't force it on them. By the way, what the heck is Duplicate submission protection enabled?
this thread has become pointless. still have one group demanding everyone play their way or GTFO while group 2 wants an option so everyone could play the way they want so all can enjoy the game. no one will convince the other group to change their mind

I still don't understand why shared loot is to be forced. It contradicts the whole idea behind teamplay and promotes soloing. It is highly abusable with addons\hacks that pick up stuff as soon as they drop, so either you have it or too bad. It's highly dependent on ping and players who play further to the server are at an unfair disadvantage. Nevermind the disadvantage ranged classes will be having and the annoyance of having to position yourself\not get too hung on last hitting but focusing on the items drop.
All in all - it's just an old, bad mechanic idea that should not exist. I don't have a problem with items not binding ever and having everything tradable, but shared loot is just an old, bad idea that can and is being overcome in newer games. It should not exist here. I believe it would lead to nothing but frustration. This aspect is not necessary. There should be AT LEAST an option to roll an item or get personal loot drops. |

Seems to me if you can't take the heat, get out the kitchen ;)

I just want to clarify that when I said "shared loot", I meant fair, assigned loot, not free for all. Sorry if I confused anyone.
I'm all in favor of having both loot OPTIONS, and I'm amazingly confused at anyone that wants one or the other forced. It should be both and I can't imagine it being too hard to program that in. Optional loot distribution should be the standard in a game like this. My guess is that Silenkiller and Tenka are the types of players that just like to join boss runs and don't care about the other players. They just want their loot and want it fast and easy.
" Thats what she said. Yes good sir, I enjoy slaying mythical creatures.

" Well, yes and no. I'll join boss runs when I want exp, not items. Items I will play for on my own or with people I trust. But if I happen to snatch something cool on a public run, its a bonus. |
|
thats what i wlould like to avoid. i would like to be able to join a PUG and not have to worry about not getting a item just worry about playing. having to go solo to item hunt is not fun at all to me
