Loot
I think having the multiple options seems like the most reasonable way to deal with this. I couldn't stand it in D2 when doing Baal runs everyone stopped fighting and starting spamming to pick up whatever dropped. With this option, it could be up to the party leader (or maybe vote by the party) as to what system they wanted to use. If you didn't like the system they were using, you could always leave. Giving players options allows for the variety of game play that makes a game so enjoyable to play over and over.
Plus, this "free-for-all" doesn't take into account a player with a higher ping than another. What it could easily turn into is who has the faster connection. In since 0.8.0

if u want to roll on loot go play wow. im looking forward to playing this game FOR the aspect of free for all loot. Don't ruin another good concept please.

" What about the concept makes you look forward to playing with it. If you enjoy grouping up, having others help you kill more difficult monsters then taking all of the good drops only to walk away laughing I could imagine people would want to stop grouping with you. If you look forward to it because it means you can play with others and trust them to take what they need and make some friends that way, that's another matter. |

" Not gonna happen, it's the free MMO community we're talking about :) I think Silenkiller likes the 'feature' and stands near bosses holding alt and grabbing the items instead of trying to do damage to the boss :) Also he probably gonna make a melee character so he always is on the front row :P |
|
lol... this feature encourages everybody go to front line :))
We'll see a huge number of melee chars ;)) |
|
How's this for an idea - the loot could spill out randomly fresh from the corpse towards any of the party members that contributed to the kill... this would give ranged chars a fair go at the items.
I think that's a beta-worthy suggestion, personally. :P |

I am in support of free to all feature. However, as most of the ppl I have a bad experience with this as there will always be some players that will try to contribute to the fight the least but steal most of the loot. What would happen in real world if someone does this? The ppl who fought the hardest would turn on the thief and woop his a$$.
So some slight modification on the drops sytem might sort this out. What about a search feature? Corpses/remains will stay for ppl to search, but you would have only a certain probability of actually finding the individual loot. This would give a chance to the non-frontliners as the melee players might not find the loot immediatelly after the kill. (Hope this is clear) |

Having to loot each corpse may work on some games where you only kill a few things at once, but we should be cutting down decent sized groups of monsters, I wouldn't really want to go through clicking each body to loot.

cant agree more with Zephyroth.
It makes me feel sick when I have to click each corpse to loot normal stuffs. Do it hundred times per hour isnt a good idea :-) it's recommended when we hunt boss or events only. |
|
I never liked the free for all loot system, it makes you focus more on getting loot than killing. Nor do i like the loot corpse idea, just seeing the trailer where you are surrounded by zombies, it would really take the pace out of the game if you have to click through 20-30 bodies each time.
