Loot

How do you handle loot? Free for all frenzy like Diablo 1 and 2, or maybe personalized loot like Diablo 3?

I think the Diablo 3 way is far better :)

The Q&A Said its a free for all. Loot falls and whoever picks it up first gets it... They said they aren't trying to make it easy for the player, its a cut throat game.
:)
Ah, that is actually a let down:( What happens is that people stop fighting and just wait for the items to drop. When for example Baal is almost dead in Diablo 2 in a public game, everyone stops fighting and waits for the drops. That makes it VERY annoying.
I think it doesn't make it a harsher world, just a world with lots of grief.
The system where drops are seen and can be grabbed by anyone can also put some characters at a disadvantage, if you are a ranged class playing with melee players you don't know, they may be inclined to hoover up any good loot before you even have a chance to get close to it. Something like this could cause players to want to solo all the time so they can have their own loot, although it might not be as good due to the lower monster difficulty.
play with friends then it dosent mater who picked up an item:P
more setups for loot would be better :( .. one pickup > roll or loot all and split it as party leader.. or fixed to player... etc..

the chance you can loot should be based on the damage you hit monsters. The more you hit, the more opportunity you get items, such as Maple Story :)....
and then it'll lead to ks. lol!

Why it should not be like that?
I think you should reconsider this stance - set it to "free for all" by default sure, but allow the game creator to change it to round robin, need before greed and similar.

Options make games successful.
I agree with the Free-for-All when playing with friends but not with strangers. More loot options will cause all involved to have a much more enjoyable experience when all is said and done.
Control is an illusion!!!
I'm excited about most of the things I've read about this game, but not this.

"Free for all" loot assumes players already have established groups of online friends able to play at convenient times, so will preclude casual players from doing the good stuff. I forsee a lot of people creating accounts and leaving at a low level when they can no longer progress without groups. Arguing over loot is not conducive to establishing new ingame friends.

Human nature is what it is, and all pretense of civility goes out the window when a rare item drops. Even when it IS assigned, as in GW, elite drops can still cause bad blood.

I support other posters suggesting "free for all" loot be reconsidered.
