Loot

FFA loot is one old school option that can die. I really like playing in parties, but refuse to because people stop fighting and horde shit before you can even see what dropped. I support instanced/FFA options.

I understand the devs want Wraeclast to be tense and cut throat but you can create that feeling through gameplay. I don't see the loot as needing to be that way. On one hand devs say they want you to feel exhilarated with loot rolls and item progression gambling, then on the other they want you to lose track of the actual gameplay in favor of clicking your screen like a maniacal gear-hording tool instead of actually fighting with your class when the mobs are low on health.

What a surprise, another looting modes thread. I hope that this unnecessary controversy gets resolved soon. Everyone can be happy here with more options. The game would only be better.

Edit: still no good reason to not provide options that would make everyone happy and be done with this very hot topic.

Yea.... thats about as BAD OF A LOOT DESIGN YOU COULD COME UP WITH.
How does it hurt the game experience for ANYONE if you give the option between personalized loot and FFA loot? People that want the more 'hardcore' loot system can have it (I put that in quotations because it is just a system for griefing) and people that want personalized loot can have that.

I present you with having your cake AND eating it too.
Sadly, I have to agree that a free-for-all loot system isn't something I'm particularly interested in.

Most of my friends are still playing D3 and I'm at the point in my life (married, kid on the way, not much playtime) where I'm not really making online friends anymore.

That being said, I don't group with anyone; I just solo and primarily because of the loot system and that's a shame, because games like these are always better with more people (specially when you get more item drops per person).

I don't want to fight over loot. I don't even want to worry about it. In fact, the few times I have grouped, was to come to someone's aid who needed help with a boss. So I jump in and help. The boss dies, we kill everything, and that person proceeds to vacuum all the loot. Yes, it's his game and I offered to help, but a simple "Hey are you interested in any of this" would be nice.

People are greedy, and this is a game about character progression and loot (we'll all agree this is a primary reason for playing). I think that the option for instanced or Free-for-all loot would be nice to have, in a current generation game.

Right now, I love this game, I think it does so many things well, but multiplayer loot is not one of those things...

I can see why the devs went for FFA loot. It's all part of the dark oppressive atmosphere they have gone for. However at the end of the day it achieves NONE of that, it simply results in people angling for the loot and not fighting properly, and of course, endless loot arguments. Neither is conducive to a positive game experience. Players worrying about loot more than monsters is just silly. I hope they change this, or better still, give us the option to change it.

FFA loot = loot ninja's paradise, nothing more
Did you know level 91 is the halfway point to level 100? This means that a softcore character dying ONCE at level 85+ can lose many days of progress.
Basically the person with the better internet connection wins. That's all it is.
after playing for a while now i think the system is oke but the loot timer needs togo to 5 seconds..not 1-2 but 4-6

4 for melee range
6 for players further away
