Loot
" Meh, it really gets down to opinions :) I understand what you say, I just don't like it. I think FFA doesn't add anything to the game but griefing, and that's something I hate. It makes me want to play solo or with friends, even though I like playing with new players. |

" matter of opinion. |

" Their is challenge in defeating the enemy, and then challenge(that you have no control over) in having that good item drop. To meet both of those and then have the item ninja'd is a pretty big issue with some folks. I've seen people quit games over it. So it is definitely a matter of opinion to say that it be boring to not have to "worry" about ninjas. |
|
" See my previous post about people who quit when they lose. |
|
i think people tend to quit when the gameis not fun anymore not cause they "lose". if people do not like having items stolen from them they will probably quit the game after it happens enough time, nothing to do with winning and losing.
|
|
" The problem is: 1.losing is never fun. 2.Winning is fun. 3.Losing many times, but then finally winning is awesome! Those players who quit because they lost and got frustrated at stage 1 never get to stage 3. For those that do experience stage 3, stage 2 is just not enough anymore. |

more ops are always better than less ops.
rarity logged teamdrop method option : owner determined randomly but server keeps a rarity log when in a group. -server loot check will remove anyone who has already recieved loot of flagged rarity. -once all members have recieved loot of a specific rarity the flag will be cleared. -loot has a permit time during which only the owner may grab it,after this time expires it becomes ffa solo : -drop ownership can be determined by most live actual damage percentage done, not by last hit.only actual damage done to actual hp will be calcd in the %%. -item is permit locked for a period, then becomes ffa after a timer expires. solo vs team : -if solo does 51% damage the drop is permitted to him, becomes ffa after timer expires -if solo does less than 51% damage loot is permitted to team and uses cyclic allotment of course you could just kill everyone and take all their stuff, right ? ;p --- .

Best I can tell there won't be any solo vs team. The instanced area is just for you and your group. So if you are solo then noone else is in there. If you are grouped then your group members enter your instance when they zone in.
As for "losing", Tenka, I don't consider someone ninja'ing my item to lose. That is just a meaningless frustration. Losing is when I lose over and over to a boss, challenge, pk opponent, etc. Some people will want to play this game that will want to group most of the time. And if they get ninja looted a couple times they'll likely stop grouping and then stop playing. Counter-productive to what the devs want. |

I'm thinking part of why they want everyone to have FFA loot is because when it comes to comparing their progress to others, it's not even. They've fought other players in order to get where they are while the rest have just gotten the roll of the dice for their items.
I think the best option is to have separate worlds, just like in MMOs today with PVP and PVE realms. This game needs a FFA and assigned loot realms. | |
The reason why this game has to be FFA is because it is an action rpg. If you have to stop and roll whenever loot drops then you'll be doing that more often than killing. Have you seen the G4 video? There are plenty of monsters to kill all the time. So if you are stopping to roll it will impede your progress.
The only alternative I see would be to do a Diablo 3 type system where loot that drops is unique only to you, and everyone else gets their own drops. I don't know how complicated that is to code. I personally don't like FFA loot with strangers. But that is the point of making in-game friends and coming to trust them and play with them. Or you stick to RL friends. They can also ninja you but then you can exact revenge outside of the game :). So I understand how this issue is hard to fix for the developers. FFA is almost required with this type of game. My advice to players is to join a clan. I bet 99% of them will boot you if you ninja an item from a clan member that fits their class/build better. |
