If you struggle to level up from 70 to 90, that's on you.

Heres a mature response since most of the people on here seem to be in their teens or about 8 yrs old responding. I can agree exp needs a buff in later levels. There are a ton of things they need to work on. Especially waystone drops. What ever tier you are on they should be dropping at that level or above. They need to start banning people on the forums for troll replies. Its not hard to ignore a thread if you dont agree with it. Some of the comments i see on here make me hate people in general.

I don't have any problem with losing the XP i made from the map i got killed on , but losing the XP from previously completed maps ? That's lame . During later levels that mechanic either forces the players to grind over & over the same safe waystones instead of attempting challenging ones , or it forces you into playing the most broken builds . It's also time intensive when the grind to Lvl 100 takes a long time already . For reference 10% of my EXP at Lvl93 roughly represent what i got from a Tier XVI Paradise map with +500% XP gain mod . Even if you die once every ten or fifteen maps you'll make no progress to Lvl 100 , 10% penalty is that huge .
I don't see any positives on this .

Dude the point of the game is to progress and improve your character. Every time you level up, you receive passive points, most people have an idea of where they want to put those passive points.
I think the system just needs a re-think, either reduce it at higher levels to compensate for the exponential growth in required exp per level or give us the option to retrieve the loot that was lost at least. Death is just too punishing at the moment, it matters too much.
Exponential XP required to level up would mean nothing without the flat 10% XP penalty.
Improving your character past level 90-95 isn't made with passive points. People thinking they should have those 10 last passive points (out of 124) don't realize most normal PoE players consider their talent trees done at level 85-90.
Gear, overall build synergies, planning, knowledge, and skill, are much more important to progress than level at this point.
Nobody is asking you to reach level 100. Nobody. Ever. It's not required for anything. That's not how PoE/2 are designed. That's all in your head, that's a self imposed challenge.

Beat every pinnacle boss up to +4 at level 90, don't plan on leveling anymore no point, already did everything those last 10 levels arnt going to make me noticeably stronger.
Already finished all the content anyway at 90. Gear was more important then levels for me all the way up.

You get hardly anything for the last few levels.
Maybe you didn't think about this or don't understand how the game works.
Your least important nodes go last on your tree. If they were important, you would get them earlier. If you don't have your best nodes, unspec the worse nodes, and get the better ones right now. If you are playing correctly, you already got all your best nodes in their order of importance.
Increasing your increased damage from 800% to 815% is not going to change how you play. You won't even notice those levels.
Ya'll are just whining that the game isn't letting you win easily enough.
After this, you would whine that rare chase uniques don't drop enough, currency doesn't drop enough, perfect rares don't drop enough. Yeah that's why those things have value, because they are difficult to get, just like level 100.
sorry buddy doesnt matter how much u or anyone else says that those levels dont matter its not passing the litmus test. even if your numbers r correct and they very well could be, its not going to convince my brain that that supposed 15% wont make a difference

everything else is fine but the exp loss. you think u said something there. got som e big gotcha moment by projecting what your accusing me of doing. what relevancy have u added hmmm. ive already said over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again in this thread and others im willing to except a compromise. capping the exp loss, a mode perhaps at reduced exp gain that doesnt have the exp loss u know like a CASUAL MODE, stating us in maps at 99 and making the progress to get to 100 extemely challenging so it still has merit in the accomplishment, anything but taxing my progress for making a mistake in the quoted CASUAL mode. this isnt hardcore i want to enjoy and have fun playing the game not push the boulder up the mountain ala sisyphus. and what i want is for the midwits on the form to get off the high horse and realize that taxing player progress for mistakes along with an extremely punishing gameplay on top of currency based play will kill the game plain and simple, poe 1 has the numbers to back it so just fucking stop if ur not going to actually read and engage in good faith

not denying this just pointing out that because of the high gear requirement taxing my level progress for every mistake is completely demotivating and should be rethought or removed

Tho I think the loss XP on death is a bit high 10% would prefer 5% if they don't have one all players would get to level 100 easily and have nothing to work to i am level 91 would be 100 if I had not died all the damn time
sorry to say I like the XP loss makes me try to get better and not die as much tho as I said would want 5% tho as 2 bars (10%) is annoying to lose
