It doesn't actually cost them anything but yes I believe its true, honestly this is one where I'm glad the streamers point out how fucking stupid it is regardless.

This should have been legislated against years ago its predatory on a scale society disallows everywhere else, it will happen eventually but can we just get some lawmakers that have actually used the internet already and realise what some of the problems are.

Obviously no point posting that on GGG forums lmao but w/e, at least DI makes it easy to toss a grenade at the PoE is p2w because i've never played a p2w game crowd.

Edit: Also no you shouldn't even play the campaign grow a backbone, just because the triple max prisoners play a great game of football doesn't mean you should be happy using them for entertainment. Honestly not a dishonest enough analogy :p

I enjoyed the campaign. I'm not going to skip a free meal at a casino just because the rest of the establishment is built purely to strip people of their financial well-being and eventually their souls.

I had to laugh at Asmongold's reasoning for putting stupid cash into DI -- 'I'm sacrificing for you guys, I'm basically Jesus', yeah pal, pretty sure Jesus was all about NOT giving to the rich and greedy but you do you.

It's interesting how many streamers are playing a similar card. It's like 'for science' except instead of cool discoveries, they're just confirming what everyone already knows and, in the process, legitimising what Blizzard have done by actually contributing to their overall revenue. And on top of all that, they're giving poorer folk (ie everyone watching) some fucked up incentive to give it a go themselves.

That's SO stupid...except it isn't because of course the streamers are making bank off the exhibitionist nature of it all as well.

Never, ever, EVER forget that these streamers are not 'us'. Once they've monetised the spectacle, they don't give a shit about morals or ethics.
The name says it all.

It's like $4.5k to roll a 5/5 5-star on average and you can wear 6 gems.

Correction, you can wear 30 gems. Because you can add "slots" to your 5* star gems, up to 5 slots, that can hold another gem.

All money donated to him by the hard of thinking, hilarious. Next up he should do a video of him wiping his ass with their dollars.

That would make it even more funny if it's true. It's hard to find out anything in game on this stuff.

I see on Reddit that Quin didn't get a 5/5 after spending $10,335 NZD.

The average cost per gem in USD on average is this (assuming you buy the most expensive packs to get the max bonus orbs, and assuming you never brick 50 in a row):
2/5 - $65.84
3/5 - $246.89
4/5 - $1234.44
5/5 - $4938.27

So first you roll your 6 gems for $29,629.62 which is pretty much unavoidable. We'll assume the trade market will let you trade evenly for the specific gems you want. In this time you get 450x 2/5, 120x 3/5, and 24x 4/5 as well.

You need 73 duplicates to hit rank 10 (any rank 5-star is ok I believe?), so 438 total assuming you can trade evenly for the ones you need. You also need 26,700 gem power but you'll have so many 1 and 2-star gems and extra 5-star gems to sacrifice that you might be ok there. So really it's only a $30k entry fee to get started in Diablo Immortal (Cheap!)

He's not trolling he actually spent that much if you skim watch his stream. Currently at 11.2k NZD. Guess he tries to prove something in his own way.

Masterpiece of 3.16 lore
"A mysterious figure appears out of nowhere, trying to escape from something you can't see. She hands you a rusty-looking device called the Blood Crucible and urges you to implant it into your body."

Only usable with Ethanol Flasks
$11.2k NZD?

Man, you can almost buy a digital drop bear for that much.

Jokes aside, this sort of money is piddlyfuck to those people. Have you seen how much some of them blow on shitty online poker games a month? All that money, all that stress, and they need the crappiest ways of wasting their money to handle it.

Top tier game streamers are just tragic clichés that were old when The Godfather was new.

That and, as I said, they're almost certainly making it all back from their viewers, sponsorship, endorsements, etc. Blizzard have implemented an unprecedented scam and streamers are there for it, skimming as much as they can.

DO: play DI for yourself if you think you've the willpower to walk away from it once it starts to show its fangs;

DO NOT: watch streamers playing/gambling it, because that validates their own predatory behaviour. The 'para' in parasocial might not share direct etymology with 'parasite'...but it really should.

https://linktr.ee/wjameschan -- everything I've ever done worth talking about, and even that is debatable.
