Nerfing XP grinding again 95-100?

All these people up in arms over 4 or 5 passive points... I never even reach the stage where these nerfs become relevant and every single thing in the end-game is on farm for me.

Set your priorities people, realistically. Getting to 100 should be an afterthought, not a goal.
Carry on my waypoint son, there'll be peace when maps are done.
Lay your portal gem to rest, don't you die no more.

'Cause it's a bitter sweet symphony this league.
Try to make maps meet, you're a slave to the meta, then you leave.
you realize that level 100 was never supposed to be attained within a few month, not even in half a year, but more leaning towards you'll be lucky if you ever get there, most of the people that it effects would never get to 100 anyway and the ones that do actually try to get to 100, it will only slow them down a few weeks or so.

The truth is, while i understand it could be annoying for thoes that dont really care about the competetive the fact is that once somebody reach level 100 the hype for the league ends, and people start to stop playing. At least this change will keep players active for a bit longer.

This is just what i have observed in the leagues i have been playing.

So to look on it from a business kinda aspect the change makes sense i would say.

Allso, level 100 is supposed to be an incredible goal to reach. This is how it was in the past, and i would love to see that happening again.

High end maps were threated like dungeons and you could not kill as fast as you can move.
You can hear streamers making "fuck why am i doing this" sound noise, means they are pushing themself to the limit already.
I personally don't care because lvl 95 is already too boring and long to get to, but understand why GGG is doing it.

Streamers are the advertisers of this game, so it is logical GGG want to keep them playing and entertained as long as possible. But maybe they should find other ways of doing it, I'm just not sure what would that be?

If they made the challenges near impossible, as they were during the 8/8 era, even more people would complain. Maybe they could open lvling up past lvl 100, but those levels should not give any major benefits, so what would be the point of that? If they made the grind endless, some insane people might actually die in RL...

Any suggestions on how to keep professional "PoE-is-my-only-job" players entertained while not making, uh.. "less professional" players angry?

I think the nerf is too soft.
It's just about week longer for nolifers to reach 100 in normal leagues.

Not sure how many people remember when D2 was released and the highest levels on the first ladder was 91-92 after first months of the season. Level 99 was unachievable for solo players and no one complained.

But nowadays young people feel entitled to max out their characters in a few weeks of gameplay, while I think it should take months for an organized team to reach level 100, and at least a year for a solo player.

"How come only evil forces were released?" - "Because there are no good forces."
"So, then. You don't believe that there is a God." - "There was a god."
"Well, then. Where is he now?" - "I killed him," said Kane.

It's not working, though. Zizaran is streaming regularly, and who else? Streams, much like number of regular players, drop off after the initial rush of the new league. Garbinger was a dead league and best thing ever for Grim Dawn, Mayhem streaming was even worse.

Changes since 2.6 onwards are making them play OTHER GAMES longer.

At least a year for a solo player. A league lasts 3 months.

Does not compute, dawg.

Yep, I don't see a problem that no solo player ever reaches 100 in a 3-4 month league.
"How come only evil forces were released?" - "Because there are no good forces."

All they would need to do is introduce diminishing returns on XP per day, in challenge leagues only, and this "problem" would be solved indefinitely. Leave Standard, Hardcore and SSF leagues unaffected.

If that isn't good enough, they could seriously nerf group-play as well. It's way, way too strong and always has been. Why do aurabots even exist, for starters? Why do Vaal skills feed themselves? Both of those are far more OP than Vaal Pact ever was.

The only thing a blanket XP nerf like this is achieving, is pushing people away. The top 100 players whom this is directed at won't be affected in the least. It might take them a couple of extra days at worst, and I'm sure they won't mind.

For your average player however, XP gains post-95 is already so slow that pushing towards 100 seems pretty much futile. I've more or less given up on anything past 92-93 nowadays, while having two 95s in Standard that I grind some on occasionally. No idea why, really, because I'm at best getting like 1% XP per 2-3 maps and it's only going to get way, way worse if I get past 95.

So the end result is that I'm playing less. Far less, truthfully. What's the point, really? I'm not progressing much if at all. If I somehow die and lose 10% XP - well that could be weeks of playtime for me. That signpost with "100" printed on it no longer seems like a realistic goal and as a result I'm losing interest.

I really don't see how this could be called good design.
Ok, you guys have never done this and don't care. Here is an opinion from someone who has and does:

Reaching 100 in this game right now is mindnumbingly boring! It requires you to shut off your brain and just chain "easy" maps that give high xp/hour. IT SUCKS. But getting your char to max level feels good. Constantly improving your char is one of the aspect of this game. Nerfing xp gain changes absolutely nothing. It's the same way to reach lvl 100, it just takes even longer.

What they should have done is increase the xp gains instead to make the regular people want to reach max level as well. Or tie xp gains with difficulty of each map and map mod. Right now map mods barely matter and because of the reduced xp percentages you get at 95+ levels, map tiers don't matter much either.

This sucks.
I'm a forum warrior, i was born to post, raised to defend my league. Now my post has been removed, chained and exiled by mods who Ban. Ban is my brother; i do not fear it. I see it in the eyes of men and beasts that i troll. It will take me to play the actual game when i am ready and i am not ready.
