Do you thrive off of posting disinformation ?
"Its was originally designed to be 45-60 minutes long" - Said no one ever, certainly not Chris.
No it was not. The lab was designed as said by GGG in interview to slow down the game play and to lower the clearing speed meta. In fact in the old interview they did for promotion the expansion few times they said the lab is made to take around 30 to 50 min to complete on average. Normally they failed horribly as people can still rush through it with ease so nothing of that slow and tactical movement around traps is left in it
So he didnt post any disinformation , you just didn't follow this that good how it seams and again are wrong (nothing new).

Mine is a SC perspective, I don't do HC because I'm old, slow, and excel at dying . I am a casual player -- I play a lot, mind you, but I don't rush rush rush from pack to pack, room to room, zone to zone.
I play because I like to have fun playing a game I enjoy.
Why I hate the Labyrinth...
#1 Huge time sink. Total disappointment when failing.
I don't rush when I play, regular zones/maps/laby. I smash every breakable, poke around entire zones/maps, pause to smell the daisies, etc. Laby takes me at least 45min (skipping side zones) to over two hours to run. When I die, and loose ALL progress, I tend to just rage quit (such as I just did prior to posting this, 50+ minutes into doing Cruel Laby at level 72).
My suggestions, for SC, is to have a save point after each successful boss fight. So when a player dies, they at least don't have to progress from the absolute beginning. Casual-gamer friendly. Heck, make a new class of play style, HC, SC, and SSC (Super Sissy Core). I'll be the first to join SSC if the Laby got save points.
I do think earning Ascendancy points should be a challenge. The Laby is great for that. But to be slapped in the face with absolute failure after expending a lot of time is just pure frustration for the player. It drives me back to play my Standard League character, or just quit and try again in a day or 3. I'm a SC player, but I feel like I'm governed by HC rules. Much too harsh for my tastes and play style.
This is basically how I play as well. Chris Wilson said that the labyrinth was designed to be 45 to 60 minutes long. I get a whole lot of denigrating hate from the pro-lab crowd when I say that though because then they say, I need to "get guid" or "gid good" or something like that. Anyway, they mean I need to learn how to play. But I hate the labyrinth and so started trying to go faster, at least faster for me. I don't kill all the monsters I run by. I don't touch the pots and I ignore many chests even. I never timed myself but I'll guess twenty minutes or something, with a gold door or two. It reduces the pain some to make it shorter. Don't get me wrong, it is still boring tedious and not fun, just not as painful. GGG still needs to fix it to make the labyrinth optional, at least if they want to ever see another donation from me.
Awesome stuff. Sums up a lot of my thoughts and feeling as well, guys.
For we older/slower old school rpg style players it all feels like the rug was suddenly pulled from beneath our feet.

Thank you for the correction.
I haven't looked at the labyrinth ladders in awhile. When I was looking at them the medium times for normal and cruel was around the 30 minute mark. Merciless had had far more racers and enchant runs in them. So I looked at the normal and cruel times to get a better idea of a typical ascendancy run. From that it is a safe conclusion that ascendancy run averages are a bit longer than 30 minutes. Which agrees with the 30 to 50 minute average.
Regarding speed giving an economic advantage, of course you're correct on that TFH. I just don't care. I play for fun and speed running is not the fun way for me to play. When I bring up a new character, I do all of the quests. I break all of the pots and open all of the chests. I even clear all monsters in an area sometimes if I feel like it. I think the right way to play the game is to have fun and if the person is having fun then they are playing the game correctly. This is part of the reason that I hate the labyrinth because there's no way for me to have fun while going through that content.

The lab basically looks good on paper, but just doesn't do it in game for sure. It is to me and many, many others, tedious and boring, PERIOD. And to basically shove it down our throats and make it mandatory doesn't help. They need something to spice it up, or further shorten the process. I am one of those that believe that the majority dislike it.

Uber Lab 20Q leveled gems chest. If this isn't risk-reward, then I dunno...

Playing with a build that is not good vs traps or Izaro: no regen, vaal pact, EVA acro/phase acro, 5.6k life. Izaro takes away 5k of my life if he hits me with sword swing.
With proper mitigation / regen build the Lab is a joke. Just saying.

You get that every time?

We can all agree that with all the drops and chest in the lab, it has a much higher probability of dropping good stuff than most other areas, right ?
Because that's something rewarding to me ( higher probability ).
I'd be curious to know how much mitigation you had there, for taking "only" 5k from uber Izaro.

The reason I ask, is isn't this just going to flood the game with 20% gems, making people (other than the pro lab runners), even less likely to go in there?

The price for 20% quality gems is going to fall through the floor. Which is also going to make 23% and level 21 gems much cheaper as well. Not that it bothers me much, just stating the obvious.
