The amout of vendor trash makes me want to quit this game
" The problem with loot hunt is in Standard nothing you find is going to be of great value or even medium value. Unless of course you get extremely lucky. Thats why I stopped playing my OP OP mjolner character and started playing in bloodlines, everything I find there i appreciate, I can get things worth a few chaos and sell them (although maybe not much after the league end was announced) In standard no one wants your shitty tri res life ring, its not 3-4 perfect stats, why would anyone invest into that? That is more of an economic problem rather then strait itemization problem, in the temporarily leagues itemization works fine in standard not so much. I understand not everyone wants to reset every 3-4 months, but TBH its the "best" way to play PoE. https://youtu.be/T9kygXtkh10?t=285

" We've discussed the trade issue before, and as I've said, I don't participate in the economy much. The problem I have is that the majority of base item/affixes on gear you find is not suitable for use in the content you're playing, let alone the build you're playing. I have some nice rings/ammys that I've accumulated over thousands of Dom farms/maps, but the progression curve is just way off to me. I recall my first char was at lvl 70 and still using a lvl 8 ring. I think I was in my 50's when I finally broke down and bought an upgrade to my lvl 20ish ES armor. I could get away with that because totems weren't shit at the time, and I can now because of my accumulated crap. My stance is simply give me a decent item progression, or give me a real trade platform if I must suffer this 'global economy' bs. No. Calm down. Learn to enjoy losing.

" but that is what is great about standard, since the trading component is pretty much dead in the water standard is basically a self found league and every now and then you get enough exalted orbs to get something interesting. no need for dicking around with shops , no need for dicking around in trade chat, and a significant reduction in flippers as well since they all go to temp leagues. not only that but the currency ratios in standard are hugely favorable for actually playing the game. exalts cost half as much in standard. i decided to skip the current leagues and am probably having the most fun since the game came out. i get to craft shit , i get to vaal shit. i can make money from the orbs i get from mapping and killing bosses 90% of unique items are pretty much free and i can buy them in bulk I get to use mechanics I almost never got to use extensively in challenge leagues on account of needing to by critical items and stuff Last edited by Saltychipmunk on Mar 12, 2015, 1:57:19 PM

" Right so basically: In leagues economy>crafting In standard crafting>economy TBH there is no way to balance it more evenly either. https://youtu.be/T9kygXtkh10?t=285

it is about risk/reward, a lot more than it is about quality vs. quantity.
as long as RNG seems so completely unbiased, and completely out of touch with what the player is doing, what kind of content this is, and how big of a challenge the last fight was compared to all-of-the-above - loot will not be where it needs to be. to put this in BMBI terms: instead of encouraging you to aim for that 400-pound massive, menacing solid steel weight, and once you do (with your teeth), encourage you to move on to the even-bigger 405-pund one - the game instead encourages you to do a thousand repetitions with tiny 5-pound dumbbells, for the completely random chance of your biceps getting big enough for the 10-pound ones. but you won't get them because they are not in the gym. they are in the marketplace so go trade for them. grind for the sake of grind and trade. and that's unlikely to change because that's exactly what GGG want you to do: grind 'till your fucking brains melt and ooze out of your ears. and then you'll probably collect them, pour them back in, and realise the ugly truth that the only way your brain would go back to a solid state - is to 24/7 trade like this isn't even a fucking ARPG. because all the great ARPG elements GGG worked so damn hard to put in the game - skill tree, gems, mechanics etc' - are almost completely nullified, by their fucking obsession to do whatever it fucking takes, to keep players away from killing monsters. because killing monsters doesn't mean anything. flip a god damned rock and you can get a bloody Shavs out of fucking nowhere. dice GG. solo-strangle your-build's-ultimate-nemesis boss/rare/Bloodlinepack with your bare hands, under-leveled, and get whites and blues with a Hillock-grade base and an equal amount of sockets. trololo. drives me fucking nuts. 2 years of driving me fucking nuts. every. single. time. well over two thousands hours spent playing this fkn brilliant, addictive, insanely re-playable, theorycrafter's-dream of a game - and I can probably count the amount of times I actually felt rewarded as a function of the risk/difficulty I tackled, with my hands. AAARRRRGH! Alva: I'm sweating like a hog in heat Shadow: That was fun Last edited by johnKeys on Mar 12, 2015, 3:56:10 PM
