POE: The Best of Games and the Worst of Games
the crafting system of poe is quite well actually.
I observe more and more "noobs" that hit lvl 60 buy crafting items from me and craft a cheap upgrade for them. Some are quite successful and rolling nice items, others have no luck at all. This is how it should be. Now as exalts became cheap its not that much of a problem to yolo exalt items, or if worth it eternal/exalt. Crafting/Map Crafting works very well as a currency sink. The balance of this is one of the best thing of PoE. It could be a bit better, but @OP you dont actually realize how good this works already. Last edited by LSN#3878 on Dec 8, 2013, 9:39:18 AM

" +1 for each of those points too. I thoroughly enjoyed all my time on POE so far but it's stagnated for quite awhile now. And before you go "oh, take a break and come back!" I'll tell you that I've been taking a break for a few months (with the occasional log-in) and I still don't feel fresh about it. The problem I have with the game is deep-seated and ingrained far too deeply for a time-lapse to solve. I.E. Orbs, economy, and that piece of crap you call crafting. |

+1 on the crafting.

Op said this much better than I and I have been saying it since start of Open Beta.
+1 Crafting doesn't exist in POE. Gambling does...and the house always wins.
Velocireptile - I LOL'ed. Which made me fart. I wish the office were empty right now :( Hardlicker - I had to push the dog out of the way so I could get to the sexy quilt. |

" I'd say: set as normal Dominus reward a 4l item. Cruel = 5l. Merci = 6l. + I've already told a nice story about progression based crafting system (every 10 orbs used give additional +0.5% chance to success). Still, wings and portals matter the most. Put on your red shoes and dance the blues.

" But what you said is not true. An item does NOT need to be a flat upgrade to your current character to be interesting. It could be a low level item with interesting abilities that makes you want to try a different spec or build, as an example. This was part of the magic of D2, in that you actually very rarely found a flat upgrade for your current character but you were continuously finding interesting stuff and minor upgrades that made you want to keep playing. People always associate "better" loot drops with OP end game gear and that is very very far from the truth. But POE does not have any diversity of items to allow this to happen and that is an issue, one that many share from the feedback this thread is getting. |

+1 especially in regards to crafting

+1 to the fact it's frustrating when you spend hours and hours trying different combinations (farming bosses, mapping, trading, rerolling...) and just accept the fact in the end that's is completely random :(
[super long - useless - post] TL;DR : whining :p Main problem is it's unbalanced, unfair and rewardless due to the fact that the random generated part (loot, craft) ruins pretty much every attemps "to do something". " Something of that kind would be better, if not to easy to craft for top players who already rules all the economy (and, not intentationnely but still), ruins crafting system. Because it's useless to craft for your own (maybe except rings and amulets that you can random with alchemy), you will ALWAYS find better for cheaper using trade chat. I have 3 full stash of uniques right now, and I always drop the same (no matter if I run Merveil, Vaal, Piety or random unique drop). I wish I could say that at least I did get all the "low uniques" items, but it's not the case (maybe half of them, not sure about it). On the other hand, I did drop like 5 perandus blazon belt the same day (wtf?), really usefull :< Here is the list of "more than 4/5 chaos uniques" I did drop : -Auxium Belt (doing some Piety runs normal with a guys having 100/500, not myself then) -Cybil's paw x2 (Nemesis) -Tabula Rasa (Nemesis) That's all ? I never did craft any 5L, because drop rate is so low that I use pretty much all of them for 4L. I still can farm alts, but it takes like 2h to get 10 fuses (-scrolls of wisdoms that you've to buy after it). I did craft some 6 sockets, I was just trying to get 4 or 5, the game wouldn't let me get what I want, but I ended up with 6 sockets. Now that I'm trying to get a 6 sockets for my chest (the 1st one I'm trying to 6s, 5L), I've already spent 220 jewelers (that's all I had left, I never sold any jewelers, neither bought), no 6 sockets. What will happen with 5L? I'm a "mid player" : Lvl 83 - 77 - 76 standard Lvl 79 - 77 - 57 - 47 (dead Nemesis) Lvl 52 - 53 Nemesis I have spent more than 1000h on Poe. My currency drop (overall): 1 eternal, 4ex, 1/2 divine, less than 10gcp. I wish GGG could take into consideration that players are willing to achieve something (that's why you've add achivement and challenges no?), rather than prey for something good to happen. Sorry for long post. Edit : My own challenge and the reason I'm still playing : -I'm trying to make cheap builds (aka 2~3 exalted worth stuff max) for archer, able to solo pretty much all bosses from "campaign", ending up my build around lvl75-80. I'm not even trying to count on lvl 90+, end game map system (72/73+ maps) and/or expensive stuff using low drop rate uniques & craft system. Last edited by 3olf#2530 on Dec 8, 2013, 11:09:46 AM

I love the crafting in PoE.
It makes everyone rage, to the point where they make continuous threads about it. I hope they never change the crafting system. |
