POE: The Best of Games and the Worst of Games

Your argument has one critical flaw; more grinding is not hardcore.

Dark souls is hard core. Dwarf fortress is hard core. Nethack is hardcore.

Bloody Korean grinding mmos like maple story are not hardcore.

I agree with you to an extent and wish there was more dark souls in poe, but I don't understand why exclude the grinding aspect. Combine the best of both worlds, action with an effective crafting system.
+1.

These things have been said many times, but your review sums up everything I believe about the game too.

I started playing back in January, played almost non-stop for 4-5 months, took a break for 2-3, came back for 2-3 weeks and stopped playing in early October.

If they overhauled the crafting system I'd definitely come back, it would really give this game a NEW LIFE. :)

Lol, based on your arguments guys, you want to find upgrades till the end of time. Like every day you find a better item. IT WON'T HAPPEN.

Realize this ff sake. There is no way, that will allow you to get constant progress, except, for something like unlimited para lvls a'la D3, which people don't see as an upgrade, 'cause its meaningless.

So what we have is some jumps in progress (which people don't like and call it RNG), or constant progress (which people dont like, 'cause its so constant and easy to predict, which leeds to boredom).

The final truth is that Arpgs were never constructed to be online games. It doesnt make sense. Either you end (and its a good ending) with D2 - so - hackers, dumping, exploits, botting or you try to chase MMO games - which is bad on its own, because ARPGS are not mmos, or u are something between like PoE or D3 which seems to make happy just a percentile of the community. There is no other way. Sadly.

Getting some satisfaction out Grim Dawn alpha,so things aren't that sad.
Nice feedback mate, although I don't agree with most of it. One thing in particular :

For a game that originally promised no currency and a barter system, POE is the most currency-concentric game I have ever played.

This is pretty much the community's fault, not GGG's. The trading system is fine, but people ruin it. They want set prices in stone with definitive buyouts, if they want to pay 2 chaos, ask you for a b/o and you ask for 4 they just don't counter offer and ignore you ; and people only want a few types of orbs (chaos-exalted) and by doing so they are turning them into "gold" themselves, but they don't want items or anything else than these few types of orbs. So no barter system and pretty much some type of unique currency in the game ("gold"). But GGG have nothing to do with that imo.

I'm so tired of microwave gamers.

But when that is said I do agree we need more to find. Whatever that may be

Yeah, will check that title after release. I hope it's a great game, but definitely it'll have a problems on its own. At least for some people, 'cause you can't please everybody.

I actually like the crafting system... it's what makes the game fun in the first place. But players who "need the best" find it "an abomination". Here's the thing... no one needs the best. You don't need 6L. You don't need your rares to be optimal. You don't need an item so good that the million players will all give you stuff just to look at it.

The topic creator said absolutely nothing about "the best". All of his points applies to merely getting decent gears. My current character has no gear I traded for and at some point I went for over 10 levels without finding even a single upgrade.
Spoiler

This is the kind of items I have trouble finding upgrades for. Any upgrade I've found within the latest 20 or so levels had to be adjusted in some way. I have not played any other ARPG where it's even close to that hard to find something better. Diablo, Diablo 2 and Titan's Quest to name a few, had me upgrade gear quite frequently. I didn't get amazing gear, but I kept getting gear that's just a little better than what I already had. This rarely happens in PoE, if you get even decent gear, expect to go for over a dozen of levels before related slot changes.
+1 for the OP's points, and +1 more for the reference
