SFL could be a 3. 4month option, but never a permanent league. it would make the grind in the other permanent leagues obsolete...
atleast if they change any other aspects like droprates etc. You can btw get all currency u need if you play sfl without trading!!! You can get every item in a permanent league without trading!!! The only thing is that it feels ineffectiv because "the others" get it faster with trading (envy) i know this is a great problem in this game...others have items which i dont have... " By that logic then trading makes the grind obsolete in every other league because its far more effective than actually playing the game. Of course its possible to find anything self found but you would have to play for thousands and thousands of hours which is silly. The name of the game is to find stuff, how can you justify painfully bad drop rates with no trading, just because some players are fine with that? Still haven't seen a decent reason why this league couldn't exist. Its basically the much requested offline mode except its still always online. " no you have to grind if you want to trade, you cant trade without any grind.... Ofcourse you could flip, scam or RMT but thats another problem. Think about it, you play SFL get only good loot, maybe a Voltaxic with lvl 60. You dont have to think about dmg nodes, reflect or something else... Do you really think its the same way to play in such a league where you have everything very fast? Dont you think that getting items without effort can get boring and that its so attractive that the most people will play it? so then 1 or 2 month after SFL league start everybody has a OP Items char, you know how such a char can be, what do you think how long will it be until the first QQ game is too easy posts will come? " Your expectations of what items in a self found league would be like is greatly over exaggerated.Do you believe it's going to rain uniques and perfect rolled rares ? Last edited by Temper#7820 on Dec 9, 2013, 1:52:25 AM

" i dont believe or expect anything, and i think a lot people have different opinions how to "balance" SFL. I would appreaciate a SFL league without any game/loot changes... But lets say you would balance SFL, how would you do it, how long will it last until the first QQ´s about the "balance" in SFL league will come...how would you difine a rewarding sfl league? " I dunno how to improve it mate,am not a coder or game designer, only player, just for see and for know. Take a look at this rubbish and understand that's what you can mostly expect from a self found fresh stash tab character around level 71.Done it enough times now to sample the RNG in POE.

You can be completely open and honest how crap the gear is,I am. I must be expecting way too much from the RNG Last edited by Temper#7820 on Dec 9, 2013, 2:09:56 AM

I have been very, very lucky with my drops.
I'm almost completely SF apart from the gloves - I traded my evasion gloves with armor ones with the same stats just to have red sockets. I dropped a 480+ DPS axe and I've been able to 6L it in a few tries, but I understand I'm in the very VERY lucky bracket. On the other hand I've been running around with the same shoes since level 50s, chest piece since level 30s, and belt since level 20s (I am now lvl 84). In a SFL I would have reasons to craft, or to try at least. In a free trading environment the best use for crafting mats is currency. When your progression depends on other people selling you what you need, you lose the sense of achievement. |

I dunno. This game (for me) is a game I play for a month or two and then put it away for another 6 months. Then I dig it back out again to see if it's improved. Last time was due to technical (desync) issues which have gotten better. But, it's still mainly a trade-to-win game which isn't for people who prefer self-found style of gameplay.
I just don't understand what's fun about trading for top-tier gear in place of advancing through the game under your own steam. Seeing the amount of people trying to discredit and impede a league that has zero effect on their own gameplay also makes me wonder what kind of community has been embraced here. I guess if GGG is cool with their fanboys telling everyone to "go play Diablows-ass 3" as they run them off the forums for having the audacity of liking the game but wanting to improve upon it, then GGG is fine with pretty much any kind of trolling that keeps the game from attracting more players. It's a strange business model, but that's their choice. The upside is that this game does make me appreciate the "classics" more: Titan Quest Dungeon Siege 2 Sacred Torchlight Fate Somehow these games managed to be fun without requiring trading online for better gear to progress through the game. Apparently, it's pointless to want to play PoE like a more traditional ARPG. I'm not opposed to the near infinite amount of grinding and farming it takes to get through PoE self-found (lvl 69, Act 3 Merciless, self-found, not a single trade) but knowing that the odds of getting gear to drop that is going to be useful for me to progress much further is stacked way, way aginst... enough is enough. |
