Remove MF completely from game

Bah I've run dual spork 100/350 for the last week, found nothing of value. My friends starts 10 days ago, plays LA ranger, has had 5 ex, 20gcp, 2 5L thickets, 1 tri-res/life 5L chest, and a Bringer Of Rain drop for him. You can get rid of MF completely, and some people will still get fucked on drops, and some will still rake it in.

Bah you run a toon for a week, how many hours a day? I made like 2 exa per day avg while running such char 12 hours a day. Now i play with my melee - will reach lvl 80 today on it - have found nothing of value. Actually i just lost a lot of cash to run yellow maps to level that toon. I actually run like 50 rarity and 10 quantity on this toon. Finding nothing - exactly as i did on my 4 other lvl 80ish chars that don't run mf, opposed to my 3 lvl 80ish chars that run mf. It's as it is intended by design? It's how you want it to be GGG? To make melee totally non viable solo because of no loot? Srsly, people can argue, they find something running without mf, but they don't have a clue. I find five times as much when I run mf. MF makes you slower? True on melee, false on ranged, especially casters. You play an arpg for loot. Non mf chars have no purpose. I don't want more loot tbh, I don't want the devil on my shoulder that keeps telling me "look, you find shit, go back to your mf char, don't waste your time, so what you like the char, you are not having fun without the drops".
Please, can someone from GGG reply to this insanely large topic in terms how would they like to see the game develop in this matter? Last edited by lososthefish#3348 on Aug 5, 2013, 3:30:31 AM

" word. i respeced my 89 op wander to dual spork mf rf shit shadow. my killspeed went from 200% to 2%. but suddenly it feels like an arpg. i dropped a lions and an ex in a few hours. 4 uniques in one map and stuff like this. this is so very wrong. I think the most unforgiving part is that last night I broke down and changed as much gear as I had to IIR gear on my 64 Ranger while farming Fellshrine. Dropped over 2k DPS... yet my character was more Mana efficient with IIQ/IIR gems and it only took about 1.5 seconds to kill mobs compared to 1 second normally. The real limiter for farming was my movement speed and not my kill speed. Within the first 30 mins of the change I had a unique (crappy Voidhome hammer) and at least 2 sellable rares (a ring and an amulet). Not to mention now that I was getting more rares to vendor I was raking in Alts to turn to Jewelers and Fusings.
At least part of the problem has to do with IIQ/IIR gems. They dont affect the mana cost and due to the currently additive form of damage gems it doesnt make that much of a difference damage wise to swap them out. Hence attacks more mana friendly, drop friendly, and now you take 3-4 hits compared to 1-2 hits to kill a mob but seeing how most people have 4-5 aps it doesnt make a difference kill time wise. Also Im still convinced there is a problem with IIR.. small amounts of IIR have huge returns in the number of rares. Its almost as if +30% is really 2x drop rates and +80% was almost 4x. But I have no proof and no time to try and prove/disprove it. Its just the gut feeling. IGN: DeathIsMyBestFriend, Illirianah

"I was thinking something similar. My new LA EB summoner witch has 80 IIQ and 110 IIR before support gems, but I don't have enough Chromes to feel safe trying for Culling Strike over the current WED, so it's an off-and-on trigger with 8 heavily aura'd zombies. But I digress... the point is that it feel like so much more than 4x uniques. Found two 5Ls on the ground (including current bow), self-found 3 Goldwyrm boots in a 6-hour period, swimming in Alts from rare sales, Jewelers from 6S, and a full tab of new (but mostly crap) uniques. Times four? Feels more like times ten. And this is right after leveling a Cleave duelist to beat Merc Piety then giving up dying too often in maps, so I remember well what zero IIQ/IIR feels like. When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. Since his life model decoy isn't up to the task, please do not mistake my performance as political discussion. I'm just doing what Steve would have wanted. I don't know if i stated this in this topic, but simply put, melee can't handle irr/iqq gear - es needs 2 ress and a good es%+static es bonus - 2 suffixes and 2 prefixes - room for both irr/iqq prefix and suffix on a perfect item. Melee needs flat armour roll, % roll, life and 2 ress - there is room only for 1 irr/iqq roll. Sure, you can ditch some armor or % rolls for rarity but the item will not be perfect then and will gimp you in maps. With 5k es you can sacrifice 1-2 k es and run high rarity with cull - you will still be sitting at 3k es at least (i run at 4,5k es at full mf gear) - enough to survive in a group or solo in maps 72 or less. All uniques with irr/iqq don't have life, so you will be gimping yourself for something like 1,5 life at least. You will get like 2,5k hp tops which is not enough to survive fighting anything serious solo. I just want to know what GGG thinks about this, so I can move on with my poe plans and character building. All I want to hear is: "we like it as it is" or "we see the problem".

You need to stop and think.
If you remove IIR/IIQ from the game then the players will go the next best farming method. Which is the kills per minute (KPM). Everyone will make the same cookie cutter build just so they can have a high KPM. High KPM = faster clears = more items on ground. And again there will be a monotony on builds. Sporker: "Oh look, a discharger clear faster, I better start playing one so I can keep up with the drops he gets". So how ever you would do it, people 9/10 will go most OP build available at the time. But yea, am up for removing IIR/IIQ from game. Lets see where that takes us, I might be wrong.
