ARPGs are based around loot. Working towards high MF and then cumming when you see all your rares drop is the point. Getting rid of it would just make the game dull.

The point is that with MF as an item stat, you will never equip the loot you so much want to find. So.. play with mf because you want to find awesome items -> find awesome items -> don't use them because playing without mf you won't find any new items.

MF as an item stat is the dumbest design in D2, and it's still ridiculously bad in PoE.

Good summarization of lots of posts in here.
Thank You for this, exactly my point as well.

Magic Find is mandatory archaic mechanic of the genre and should be removed.

The entire crux of your point is subjective and emotional. You believe that there should not exist a mechanic that puts your build at an inherent disadvantage. In other words, you prefer an ARPG like Gauntlet: Dark Legacy. One where every class gets the same things. That's fine, and those games can be fun, but don't act like everyone sees it the same way. Because we don't.

Again, you're simply hiding a "BUFF ME LULZ" sentence behind the mighty word "balance". And YOU ARE FUCKING ABLE TO EQUIP YOUR FUCKING FIGHTER. WITH A FUCKING LEVEL 88 MARA IN HC, YOU ShOULD KNOW IT.

Holy crap calm down. This isn't really a case of either side being right or wrong its more of a personal preference on what some people like and don't like.

The whole "Buff me LuLz" is just an overreaction and conspiracy theory. Anyone can make a stacked MF character easily. If I was happy doing that then I wouldn't be in here talking about how boring Magic Find is.

There are builds which are not put at a disadvantage when using magic find. Drops are balanced around high magic find, any build which can't stack it is not sustainable.

And removing MF won't make every class the same, it will just change the meta so that killspeed and efficiency is how you get more items. This is instead of stacking a boring number on your stats sheet.

Do you not realize how utterly retarded this statement is?
I like to chime in every 5-10 pages and say the same thing.

Steep diminishing returns.

Y'all only see black and white, I like grayscale.

I hope you do realize that your statement is very informative though.

After MF is no more, the game will be changed into finding perfect balance between survivability and kill speed - exactly what ARPGs are about - to find best items assuming content is be properly balanced around solo play as well as group play.
"After MF is no more"
Considering GGG said no more wipes, this won't happen. Ever.
Keep on trying though, your exercises in futility amuse me greatly.

Here's mine.
  • All rare IIQ mods on current items gain added drawback of reduced item rarity, equal to the % of IIQ
  • All rare IIR mods on current items gain added drawback of reduced item quantity, equal to half the % of IIR
  • IIQ and IIR affixes no longer spawn on gear

If necessary, though, I'd settle for the last point alone. Not exactly a huge fan of all kind of legacy MF gear, but after a few years it would largely die off.
When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. Since his life model decoy isn't up to the task, please do not mistake my performance as political discussion. I'm just doing what Steve would have wanted.

So... you've got no rebuttal? Please enlighten me how mandatory magic find makes the game more exciting and/or interesting.
