Why does Lioneye's Glare have no drawback?

But they retroactively changed Volls without any issues. Albeit a buff, but I would assume the difference is moot.
People don't complain about buffs though.
Oh wait.

When they make changes to items I think using a Blessed/Divine Orb applies those changes and since it was a buff why wouldn't people use it on Voll's. Atlast thats what I think probably happened. People aren't gonna use those orbs on a Kaoms or LG if they got nerfed.

If they have to shut down the servers to balance the game, they should.

PvE games don't need to be balanced, and any competitive event/league can be run without certain items.

There is no problem here.

This was explaiend by Chris in great detail, again its a technical thing

With Vols, the specific item ability (gain a power charge on crit) was changed. In the database, item abilities have a unique code (which would sometimes also have a unique corresponding value). So, increased physical attack can have a unique code of "234" as an example, with an optional value of "80" (which would mean a 80% damage increase to physical)

In the case of Vols Protector, its ability was changed, but the unique code was not. So the value in the database didn't change at all. The ability to gain a power charge on critical, may have a unique code of "5321", and that value remains the same in the database. The only thing that changed, is the server running PoE, which has its own internal table that maps unique codes to what the ability actually does, so in the case of "gain power charge on critical", the Poe server table ability (and NOT the database) was changed so "5321" gained a charge for every unit hit by crit.

tl;dr, nothing in the database was altered for that change, only the server/s running PoE was

On the other hand, silverbranch, which was nerfed in that same patch, didn't get a retroactive fix. The only thing that was modified was that the range for the +x bonus to gems, was altered from 1-2 to 1-1 (i.e. if you get a silverbanch now, it is always +1 to gems, before it could be +1 or +2). However legacy silverbranch's weren't changed, for the exact same reasons I stated. In order for GGG to fix this, they would have to go through every silver-branch in existence, and modify the +x value to 1

So the only nerf that Lioneyes can get, so it does work retroactively, will be to change "cannot miss" to something like "cannot miss and cannot crit". The thing is, EVERY item that has the "cannot miss" property will also be changed to this. Every item that has the "cannot miss" property (and there are multiple) all share the same code for that "cannot miss" (thats how the unique codes work)

Again the reason this wasn't an issue with Vols Protector is because it was the only item with that property (gain power charge on crit)

Yes, but the game would be offline for half the time

Either that or you would risk the potential of account data getting corrupted/lost

There are plenty of balance things that GGG could change, but probably can't for this reason alone

This is..... I'm at a loss. Let me get one thing out there. I have no problem with OP items, builds, etc. I really don't care. What I don't like is all-powerful unique items. *For me* it makes the game less fun. By this, I'm saying that once I find that bow (again), I don't have to pay attention to ANY other bow that drops. Ever. Because of the super super super small slim chance that I may get one better isn't worth my time.

One item, should not allow me to leave all other bows on the ground.

I'm pretty sure the Divine/Blessed orb only applies to items that are buffed. If GGG were to deem an item too overpowered and nerfed it, I'm pretty sure it would affect all of the items not just the new ones or ones that were blessed/divined.

What is the point of nerfing Lioneye's or Kaom's if there are still going to be 100 of them(or more) that aren't affected by the nerf? If anything it would make the "legacy" versions of the uniques overpriced and this wouldn't be exactly smart for the economy.

I don't have a Kaom's. I don't have a shav's. I don't have a lioneye's.

I don't care.
