Why does Lioneye's Glare have no drawback?

If you use a divine on a +2 silverbranch it will make it a +1 and will never go back to +2 no matter how many divines you throw at it. If they change the values, nerf or buff, the value is changed.

With the retroactive changes I'm pretty sure Chris has said they can, but they rather not. With stuff like demigods I don't think they have a problem with leaving collector item type uniques around with the understanding standard/HC are dumping grounds that races/semi leagues are their driving force.

I also believe the default leagues are dumping grounds. The only issue I have with this comes down to PvP.

Well silverbranch isn't exactly an item that is overpowered lol. That nerf really made no sense to me.

If Kaoms was nerfed to 700 life and everyone still kept their 1000 life kaoms it would be a bit ridiculous.

Silverbranch was extremely OP in races

Basically anyone that got that item won a race, this was the main impetus behind the nerf

I guess I didn't know that because I don't participate in the races.

This would explain why the nerf didn't affect the old bows though. If the nerf was specifically for races, there would be no need to nerf the old bows.

It was specifically not changed due to technical reasons. GGG stated this explicitely

Well I'm pretty sure that if Kaom's or Lioneye's got nerfed significantly, GGG would get around those technical reasons.

No, what I'm saying is if they did end up nerfing some uniques people go on about being OP, what they'll do is make it so new ones are nerfed, leaving the old ones untouched. Yes, someone would be dumb to use a divine on a 1k life kaoms to get the lower value but it could still happen to them. I don't think they have much of a problem with leaving the OP kaoms in there because it won't be a widespread problem and won't affect new leagues.

I see no problem with allowing the old versions to keep their stats. Just like in D2 when you had 1.08/legacy items in SCNL. Those items will eventually be in the dump leagues.
