Why does Lioneye's Glare have no drawback?

From what i have seen on streams or on the market, LG is certainly not the highest dmg bow out there, it is possible to roll/find better rare bows, it's just quite hard to do so.
Only thing that makes LG so good is the mana and always hit mod.
This unique is one of the very rarest to find.
If this thing ever gets nerfed, the devs should really be careful with not going overboard, its a very thin line to walk upon since LG is very easy to make meh endgame when u have rares that either are the same dmg wise (wich is not that uncommon endgame) or have rares that are better alltogether (wich is very rare).

in terms of late-game ranged, Lightning Arrow is nothing without shock, Ice Shot is nothing without freezing and Explosive Arrow is nothing without burning.

Lioneye's Glare is indeed the best bow in the game by a large margin - and that makes it the only viable late-game bow.
this wouldn't be the case if there were more unique bows of the same calibre, or if high level maps were capable of dropping godly-set-of-mods rare bows.

right now, your proposed change would pretty much limit every bow character above level 80 to using Puncture, Frenzy, Rain Of Arrows and one or two more skills I probably forgot.
oh, and Poison Arrow.

and the funny thing is, my maps character is actually melee. I have 2 more acts to go in Merciless with my Ranger to get there.
also, I would never have a Lioneye or even close, because both the currency-drop and the item-drop parts of RNG hate me. more than any other player in the game probably :(

I just watch streams. lots of streams.

LIONEYE'S GLARE DOES HAVE A MAJOR DRAWBACK: THE REQUIREMENT FOR BLACKGLEAM QUIVER.

In order for Lioneye's to work with the current effective bow builds (i.e. Lightning Arrow, Rain of Arrows, and Explosive Arrows), you need the Blackgleam quiver which converts the pure physical to elemental which can then be amplified by the rest of the components that make those respective builds highly effective.

This requirement for Blackgleam's in and of itself is the balance.
By using Lioneye's glare, you really cannot use a rare quiver, which limits both survivability and damage effectiveness. Rare quivers offer much more affixes that add life, sustain, and damage. As an example, here is my near-perfect Blackgleam quiver versus some of my rare quivers:

As you can see, the rare quivers have more affixes that add both survivability and damage effectiveness, both of which are lacking in the Blackgleam.

Now, if you pair Lioneye's with a rare quiver, you are stuck with a pure physical bow build, and even with end-game gear, current pure physical bow builds cannot match elemental bow builds, period.

Dear Chris, I think you should take into consideration that Lioneye's Glare is only godly when paired with the Blackgleam quiver (which we must all admit is not a great quiver by itself).

Most people enjoy the LG bow (myself included) because it negates accuracy node spending and right now even as a heavy Dex user accuracy is something that needs improving. If the devs can make accuracy better in terms of either how it functions or at least not having to spend too many points to obtain a good accuracy score then they go and start messing around with LG. Personally, I'd like to the bow become something like:

%Physical Damage Mod
Gems in this item are supported by a Lvl. 18-20 Knockback effect (number can be tweaked)
4-7% Physical Damage Leeched Back as Mana
+Mana Amount
+30 Intelligence
+30% Mana Regen Rate

At the very least you get the physical damage increased but no extra PD modifier and now the bow is tweaked more for mana-using ranged characters. Again, assuming accuracy is fixed up a bit then this bow won't be something Blood Magic users would want to go after and gives the potential to not need to use Mana Leech gems. The Knockback is there for helping keep foes at range a bit, and now it's not as powerful as before. I know, I know, it's not perfect...I get it, and things would have to be changed around, but at least the IDEA that you have a bow that is geared to help out ranged characters who want to use mana and what not.

**EDIT**

But even then, now that I think about it, perhaps something like that should be a separate bow unto itself to give bow users more options aside from just LG or powerful tri-elemental rares or uber-physical damage rolled ones.

there are other items/skills that covert damage to elemental, and using LG means that you can completely ignore +accuracy affixes on items. this is HUGE as you need several of these to hit reliably

so that blackgleam theory is rather meh. funny that these quivers sell for pennies or dont sell at all while supposedly being end game items.

btw LA builds are already TOO strong compared to other choices (due to inhernent opness of shockstack compared to other elemental alimients and no phys-crit effect) so toning them down should not hurt anyone
of all the things to try to get nerfed, you pick on bow users OP?
What about dual spork?

Max IAS on a rare bow is 16% btw and not 27% so even in that area an Lioneye's glare wins :p

Low ES for an Endgame build.

I thought that, given the precedent with Kaom's and Silverbranch, that the policy going forward is to allow the parent leagues to effectively become legacy leagues and to only rebalance in respect to the ladder resets. That said, I don't see where "rude" comes into making balance decisions. I have a 5L Lioneye's and I can acknowledge that it's one of the worst cases of unique design in the game, and would be happy to see it addressed.
