No respec options? No thanks.

Well..so E-peen is the reason?

Okey..not going to lie..it seems super stupid to me but I wont argue with that.

To me...ideal solution would be to create competitive league which wont allow respecing..and everyone could be happy.

So if I understand you correctly you would have no problem if they gave everyone in the game a free super axe of pwning that did 1 million dps because you could simply choose not to use it? Ok.

Would it be fun to use? :p

That's only question what I care..

But seriously.. I am playing this game for character progression. I like being challenged.. and I love moment when I suddenly got better gear/skills and I can overcome encounters more easily.

So in short..as long as I am not forced to use it and ruin my fun, I really don't care.

Well if it works for you that's fine, but most people partly enjoy multiplayer games for competitive reasons as well.

But why wont keep everyone happy? It's pretty clear there are two big groups of players.. people who like choice permanency and people who love to experiment with different builds without rerolling or grinding tons of orbs.

league system is already set and ready. Why not use it to separate competitive players and ..let's call them..casual players.

I highly doubt GGG would support such a league. Default is the baseline for all leagues, and their rule is that nothing will change to make the game easier than Default. Default is also competitively-ranked, as all leagues will be.

Just quick question because I probably never understood this mindset correctly.

But why exactly are people against full respec? I am guy who never respeced..maybe few times in WoW to fix few talents here and there but it never bothered me that other people can respec at will. I welcome respec as long as it makes people happy and they will continue to play the game.

So.. how are people respecing around your affecting your fun?

This is probably only one thing I have hard times to understand.. Because in my pretty long gaming "career"..they never affected my fun at all.

With that reasoning they could also add an orb that would make every piece of equipment perfect and dropped all the time. You could simply choose not to pick them up and completely ignore them, how does other people using them ruin your fun?

In games people try to be the best or as good as they can be, and to do that you'd have to use respecs if they had them, whether you liked it or not. Handicapping yourself by ignoring a feature you don't like is not fun.

That's not the same at all. What you are describing would completely break the game. The market affects everyone.

I don't believe in the "just don't use it" fallacy either. But it does not apply here.
What is the big advantage you miss out by not using full respec if it's available?
What does it take away from the game if others respec but you don't?

That is impossible, and trying will likely result in all-round mediocrity,

I wouldn't call 1 exalted orb + trade grinding tons of orbs. I don't see how the theorycrafters can somehow be kept partitioned from the players and still make it so they can test their experimental builds, especially when it comes to things like PvP.

Ladder ranking and or PvP wins.

Not if you have a good build in the first place.

No. For PvP, you could use respec to modify your build to counter specific players.

For ladder races, you could go full glass cannon during the early levels when monsters don't hit very hard. As you get higher, you can respec to get more defensive and avoid dying.

These are just examples. Easy respecs will always give you an advantage no matter how well you plan your build.
