Loot

I'd rather have the option to have my own loot or FFA.

In an ARPG, loot is a huge part of character progression. That's even more true in this game where your skills will be drops. I want some sort of security in getting what I need to progress rather than leave it up to a bunch of strangers to run in and swipe everything whether they need it or not. It just adds opportunity for grieving other players. That's not fun for me.

So you guys might say 'if you don't like it then play solo'. That's just stupid, why should I be limited to playing by myself just so I don't have to worry about having all my drops stolen? Why does it seem that everyone that is for FFA wants to force it on everybody else?

Having an option makes sense. In my mind, the majority of players will want their own drops when playing with strangers. So why cater to that minority that wants FFA? That's why Diablo 3 and Torchlight 2 are going for individual drops and FFA is dying out in commercial games. It's the player consensus.

However, I see that there still is a big fanbase for FFA so they won't have to worry about finding people to play that style with. And even so, a good matchmaking system could help them find people with that similar play-style preference if they can't on their own.

And so it is a cut-throat game, but that shouldn't dictate how loot should be distributed. It's a team effort first and foremost. Things like loot stealing break up groups and force them to regroup.

if FFA loot is good (to others i think its stupid) because it is a cut throat game then the game should also have full pvp anytime anywhere support. if you are cut throat for stealing all the items i should be able to be cut throat and kill you where you stand.


this is such an outdated system it could be a huge draw back for the game. whats the point of a online game where a huge chunk of your player base only plays solo? permaximum mentiopns telekenesis as a means for archers/mages to get loot for a distance, that will just cause those characters to stop fighting and switch to that skill when mobs are near death.

everyone seeing their own drops is really the best system out there now. rolling or looting every mob is too time consuming and would just ruin the fun of the game.

really at best with a FFA looting system this will be nothing but a hold over for D3 which is sad cause PoE actually looks really fun

What's wrong with that? It's the purpose of that skill here. Bind that skill to some key and that's it. Use it as soon as a monster dies.

Most of the popular online RPGs i know use FFA system. Competitiveness is everyting in these type of games. Rushing for the dropped items is another element of competitiveness. If you don't like it, play solo or play with your friends and the people you trust. In the public nature laws matter :)

I hope grinding gear games didn't reveal the game too early.

you can be competitive without flat out robbing people. rushing for the drops is about greed not compitition. you say dont play it if you dont like it? i am positive you will get more people who do not like FFA than those who do. usually people who like it are the same ones who enjoy taking every items without really doing anything or needing them
OFC i'm not saying don't play it if you don't like it. I'm just saying there are a few options for you too if you don't like it.

Playing solo
Playing with friends
Playing with the people you trust

And i'm pretty sure FFA loot system won't make GGG lose even 1 customer. That wasn't the case for Diablo series or other MMORPGS.

diablo is 10 years old now and does not really translate well. ffa will lose them customers if other games have better options for people. i realize better is not universal for everone but i am positive more people want shared loot than a ffa system.

why not just make it an option or even a server option. ffa servers and shared loot servers? hell make a complete ffa server where you can openly pk and take any loot you want

Diablo is still a better GAME than WoW. Somewhere along the lines we started going backwards, and developers are starting to provide more games that are like "win fixes" rather than actual challenges.

I actually would'nt mind this. No party system, just other players and Friendly Fire.

Lets allow us to loot other players we kill so we can take all their best gear, that will make it really realistic and fun!

I know another good 'feature', you can craft fake items and trade them with players for their real items! That makes the world even more cut throat! Or how about a chance for your player to get a heart-attack in hardcore mode, that would make the world so much more realistic!

Loot duels was a part of D2 in HC mode. And it was possible pre 1.10 to do so in Softcore as well. For the people that did it, it WAS fun.

Get MY point .. having the freedom to wreck people, and maintaining the strength to BEAT the people that try to wreck you is fun.
