Power Creep and an opportunity for change (rework eternals and mirrors).
" How is it being wasteful if I use the item and invest more into it? Specifically how is it wasteful to master craft something onto it that could be removed later? If i had to price the belt as is right now I think its worth around 2ex in standard. There is a 6 mod belt that has slightly better res rolls, but the +2 mods it has over mine is 39 armor and 10 es, the value of the open mods of mine means those dumpster useless mods on his are pointless and the ability to master mod something onto mine increases its value. There is one for 2ex that is corrupted with the same mods as the other one, just better armor and es values, unfort its increased physical damage is only 13% and its corrupted. So look at it from this perspective, I can't buy a better belt then what i have for just 1 ex, I can buy one that has capped it potential for 1ex that is almost the same aside from the 2 extra useless mods. So from the risk\reward standpoint doesn't it seem more logical to either master craft something onto it or exalt mine instead of buying something that is pointless for my character with a total of 14 or so more res(not all just just res) 39 armor and 10es? The ring is a bit more of a gamble, as I know that the ES from it won't be as good as it is now when the next patch hits (eb rework) Again these are just 2 examples from 1 person on stuff that could be yolo exalted but aren't and they aren't being yolo exalted for multiple reasons, none of which have anything to do with eternals. If you'd like I can go into detail further on why they aren't being exalted. https://youtu.be/T9kygXtkh10?t=285

"Incorrect. Using an Eternal without an Exalt is usually wasteful, but using an Exalt without an Eternal isn't, because there are more Exalts than Eternals so some must be used without the safety net. Reading that, yes, you are right.
That being said: if the existence of the eternal + mirror combination brought the price of everything down, it's less practical to yolo exalt, and some could perceive that it's better to trade that rather than spend it, even if not rational always. " That is correct, again this whole issue with no one willing to yolo exalt items is fairly limited to standard and even then it isn't ALL standard players. Yes I can search on poe.trade for similar stat item and in this case find something similar for around the same price of yolo exalting my item, the difference is of course I already have said item with said stats I need. If this was a temp league the chances of me being able to do the same thing is MUCH smaller, almost to the point where it would be a much better return on investment to take the risk. If I take the risk now, the most I can probably get out of that item is 5ex, so "double" the value\investment I would put into it. For people in standard, that isn't typically worth it, not because of mirror or eternals, but because the market already had people take those risk and if you brick it you actually decrease its value. Case in point being the belt with 10 ES and 39 or whatever armor. I don't know for sure that those rolls were yolo exalts, but it just goes to show over time item saturation and "devaulation" will occur, again eternals and mirrors have nothing to do with that, especially if that other belt dropped "as is" https://youtu.be/T9kygXtkh10?t=285

Over time, yes, but still, for the most powerful items it should be really slow. The item saturation is something important (I've said that the lack of item sinks fucks ups the economy) but so is the fact that the et + MoK combo exists (at least for items near to perfect). I don't know to what point each one matters anyway, and I wouldn't attack the et + MoK combo on that alone (there are better reasons).

a mirrored item is going to cost something like 350-400 exalted in awakening
who can afford to pay 400 exa for a mirrored item there if not people doing RMT or ONLY the 2-3% of players? only the 0,5% of players could afford a full mirrored set so GGG is going to balance the game on this 0,5%? it's hilarious, there is something wrong here, and it's very big that you cannot say to not see it if this is what GGG calls balance, increase even more the difference between the ultra-rich and the normal players, in this way it's even harder to balance the game, the ultra-rich will make even more dps than in live compared to the normal player |

I don't think they balance around that (not even Uber Atziri requires mirror items).

I should point out that by "yolo Exalt" I mean no Eternal, not part of a reckless waste of Exalts. Scarcity still greatly limited what items it makes sense to Exalt; it's just that it limits Eternal use to even a smaller subset.
If the current attitude is "I need an Eternal before I Exalt this 4xT1 item," that isn't realistic given the ratio between Exalt and Eternal scarcity; there are probably just enough to cover 5xT1 to 6x Exalt attempts. Such an unrealistic belief would eventually strain the economy towards a bubble collapse. When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. " The fun part is that it's impossible to study the market. Even knowing the eternal-exalt ratio won't help with hoarders and other things. Let's not talk about the people that hoard the items in temporal leagues distorting the economy there. If people are in a bubble, no one will know, :P Add a Forsaken Masters questline https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2297942 Last edited by NeroNoah#1010 on Jun 10, 2015, 1:52:31 PM
