Why are the people (assuning yourself) who advocate for the "death has to be meaninful, death should be punishing" not up in arms and complaining to GGG for removing that mechanic during boss fights? The question is why would GGG only do that for bosses and not rethink the policy for mapping (i suspect i know why)...i mean death penalties should atleast be the same for all content and players shouldnt it. The less portals depending on difficulty seems foolish to me, it will open up issues that dont need to exist such as wanting to leave to trade or sell items, lossing heavily juiced map on a dc. Some one mentioned kodak syndrome and it looks like the devs are suffering from it, they acknowledged the penalties are a problem, hence the change to bosses. 6 portals can never be given.
Because the next thing they will ask is the xp penalty. Now the only things preventing them from staying at 0% xp forever is actually 1 portal system. With 6, they will die, and die, and die, and die, and die, and die. The best change I can recommend is for GGG to secretly change the poe2 exe file into poe1 exe file and tell them they have 6 portals. And they probably won't notice you know. After all they are body stackers. |

You can't take any risks in a map or play fast with 1 death per map it's dumb af idk why they changed it and created a problem from something no one complained about in poe 1. Not to mention server instability and general balance issues with the game being in EA and all

I like this new system they added, but I would add the possibility that when we have only one portal left, we get one last chance to return at the cost of a significant amount of gold as a penalty—for example, to pick up a valuable drop. I hope they take this into consideration.

" And to make the whole thing even more confounding: The first leagues GGG added to PoE 2 are fucking timed leagues. You know, the mechanics that encourages taking risks and playing fast to get any semblance of reward. And it's not something you can just ignore, a good amount of map sustain comes from these leagues. This is a huge conflict of interest. Does GGG want us to play slow and safe, or do they want us to be sub-60-second map blitzers? PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds.
Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build! MFers found strength in their Afflictions. They became reliant on them. I am not so foolish. |

" what i personally find weird, is this idea of over punishement in this game -1 portal chance -1 hit death -1 chance at ubers -1 map ruined (from 1 try failed from 1 miss-timed dodge) -1 try at (forced trials) for ascendancy -high XP cost on death -extreme high damage from clusters of monsters and bosses -no movement speed on any "good boots" -no vendor upgrades if your stuck and cant level so no item resets -no good loots in SSF -broken Market (will be as broken in every economy resets) so what do people do ? the most logical thing there is to do.... find the most exploitable broken builds in order to overcome all that then in the stream... they say they are desapointed that ubers and pinacles ended up getting one shotted from broken builds THEN in the end of the stream what did jonathan say? "We can not wait to see what broken builds people will come up with" this, to me makes as much sense as OP's post... |
