The new portal system is a good compromise

Yet I still see people here demanding 6 portals on all maps. If you get to t15 maps and are dying then there is something wrong with your build and you need to start over or re work it somehow.

Deaths need to have consequence. Since I've been waiting for new poe league I have been trying out Last Epoch. And I have been horribly bored the whole time. Deaths have no weight or any meaningful impact. It's just a second monitor game to play while you watch a video on youtube.

This is a good compromise. If you want 6 portals on everything just go play LE or D4 where deaths mean nothing. Now, little Timmy, before you write just go play hardcore if you want a challenge. Deleting your char on death is not the same as losing the map and 10 percent xp. It is not a valid argument.

Question is, what happens when we want to stash/sell tons of loot or trade on juiced maps with one portal..is it gone once you leave and not just when you die? If so, that would be really dumb...Nobody is going to trade and you won't be able to loot 99% of the drops.

We already have one. It's called the exp penalty.

Losing 10%-60% of your exp should be more than sufficient that we don't need to also kill map sustain after 1 death.

Why are we trying to make the game be a stone's throw away from being hardcore so badly? Are people really pining that hard over the logout macro meta?
PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds.

Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build!

MFers found strength in their Afflictions. They became reliant on them. I am not so foolish.

It's literally not a stone's throw away. Usually hardcore characters are deleted after a death. That's not a stones throw away. That's not even in the same ball park.

This is a good compromise. You can get map sustain on lower tiers, but if you continue to die in t15 maps then something is wrong and you need to fix it. I swear casual games with no challenge and mediocre triple a slop has ruined an entire generation of gamers.

ok boomer

I've been playing Path of Exile for almost 13 years where you've only been playing for almost 2. Before that, I was an avid classic Diablo 2 player, a summoner necro main. I've seen the best and the worst this game has to offer, and I've stuck with it since the beginning. Just because GGG is set in their ways does not mean they have the correct stance on how the game should be developed.

Did you know at one point, loot allocation used to be strictly free-for-all? GGG adamantly defended that for years until the uproar was bad enough they could no longer ignore it. Same with outcries for SSF. They were content to keep instant damage reflection as a monster aura, but they nerfed it repeatedly through the years before eventually deleting the mechanic outright. They're also vehemently opposed to automated trading for as long as the first game has existed, yet now we have Faustus in PoE1 for currency exchange, and even PoE2 has it. They've defended the concept of commodifying services, but the growing reliance of TFT and the resulting scams from even its own moderators forced them to make several common services into a crafting item for trade.

GGG is not infallible. You gain nothing being this defensive over their design choices.

Someone made a terrific comment on another thread which I think perfectly fits GGG to a T: They're suffering Kodak Syndrome. Their refusal to adapt to modern demographics will ultimately become their downfall. They know this, it's why so much of PoE2 has modernized, streamlined, "dumbed down" mechanics such as summoning and the gem socketing. It's to adapt to a modern gaming audience so they can stay afloat without Tencent pulling the plug. And it shows in the steam charts which has over twice the all-time peak player count compared to PoE1.

They can't rely on old players and whales forever. They either adapt or die. What you want will kill the game.

Feel free to whip yourself every time you die in videogame, you'll get your consequence:) Or go without food until you recoup every exp penalty.

As for others, let them decide for themselves what is personally meaningful or engaging and what is not.

This argument of make your own challenge is annoying. If you want a game that doesn't challenge you then go play the 100s of them out there. Leave our game alone. You have way more then we do.
