The new portal system is a good compromise
Can a post get locked?
I think it was clarified with new GGG post about portals, and this thread has strayed away from its purpose. |

" What a failure of imagination on your part. People don't like losing xp on death because they aren't masochists and they don't like having things taken away from them. I mean really, did that never cross your mind? |

" There is always a deeper reason why it annoys people so much. Those are the ones i outlined. If your true only reason is because it was “taken” away from you (your own fault for dying) then you are just crying because you no likey |

" Daily reminder that this is a game where you can be one-shot by mobs that are off-screen. |

" If you play maps with mods you can't handle. |

" says the forum cause it never happen to me, also you would think there would be tons of video about it if it was an actual issue, i tryed to find some, i couldn't :D |

" nah bro. If GGG won't support us human players with widescreen monitors because of the unfair advantage, then enemy mobs can't have it either. |

" Wow just Wow talk about missing the point The majority of player are unhappy with the layered penalties and ask for it to be reduced not removed entirely. my take is confine it only to the content you fail at you know...die in the map forfeit the xp and whatever GGG know its problem because they removed xp lose from boss fights and also removed the xp gain...thats a clear indication that they know some ppl will notice and try to mitigate complaints by being able to say "well you dont get xp from bosses" the portal thing could make things worse think about xp per death... then dont do comtent you cant handle i hear you say..well aslong as death is possible then huge xp loss is possible no matter what you play Last edited by tarloch#1873 on Apr 1, 2025, 3:32:26 AM

" there is a big difference in the philosophy behind removing the boss xp loss, GGG arent saying "XP loss is bad therefore it should be removed on pinnacle bosses" they are saying "people arent engaging in the pinnancle boss content as much because they are almost leveled up and dont want to do the hardest content out of fear they could lose their XP" The change allows more players to engage in the content when they want because GGG want them to engage with bossing. " Like i said in point number 2 of my long post, if you are worried about losing 60% of your xp because you are dying so much in white maps then there is something deeply wrong with your build that needs fixing and a couple more levels isnt going to change that. XP loss is SYMPTOM of you having a tough time in the game its not the CAUSE of it. it tells you when you are doing content you probably shouldnt be doing. Idk how im missing the point, The layers of penalties are being reduced because the less mods on the map means you dont have the potential to lose all the ground loot so thats one layer gone, but if then your argument is "well then i could lose 60% xp possibly" then i refer you to my point above or point 2 of my long post. |

" Wrong. You can know pretty much everything about the game and still die from a tiny little mistake like a mis timed dodge roll or even an off screen spell since the field of view is so small. Aside from that, the XP penalty in late endgame forces play styles and builds that completely take the fun out of the game that existed in the campaign. And no, high lvl players don't like running non juiced T-15s. It feels like a complete waste of a map most the time. It's a core design issue. Simple solution is to add more tier levels. Capping at tier 15 creates most of the problems. It creates the huge unbalance of XP loss vs XP gain While severely limiting play styles and builds. |
