What do you think of the new 0.2 patch?
" Didn't watch the stream, am I understanding correctly they actually removed exp penalty on pinnacle bosses? and graciously bestowed additional portals on non-modified maps no one should play? If true, even this kind of trolling is an improvement over their stone face attitude across last decade. We've finally started getting somewhere, just a few more years:) |

I guess I will play through campaign with huntress, and after gameplay degenerates, will wait for LE or Titan Quest 2. Looks like there still will be no interesting endgame, even though they added a lot of content — without changing balance drastically it all doesn't matter.

" I'm intrigued by this stuff but I really need patch notes. It seems like Death has its own little mini game now, depending on where you are in the game. |

Cool:
- Made towers more scarce, but buffed massively to cut down on needing to jump between them and pile on tablets - Raise spectre is finally arriving Meh: - Huntress class. Nothing really all that special. Bad: - Summoner builds that use corpse-summoned minions remain non-viable in boss fights due to lack of adds - No Desecrate gem announced to address the above problem - 1-portal-only is still a problem. Who doesn't alch their maps? You need to run them as hard as possible to try and sustain, so the extra portals are only good for white maps. You still can't leave to trade which serves to benefit price fixers since it's impossible to tell them apart from people who can't leave to trade. - The new wisp mechanic being added. Just what we need, more content that encourages you to make builds that nuke maps despite GGG doing everything to try and slow the game down, and failing to do so will result in substantially less loot and currency for trade. PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds.
Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build! MFers found strength in their Afflictions. They became reliant on them. I am not so foolish. |

It just looks lame, to be honest. Like, I wanted to believe they could improve the game meaningfully but so far I'm not seeing it. Virtually everything in the patch other than Huntress is a retread of PoE 1 mechanics, but presumedly made worse in PoE 2 because that it's "flavor" and "design".
They started with essences being completely worthless, now they're making them slightly better. Wisps, vaal corruption, it's all just downgraded versions of what you already have in PoE 1. The excuse for first release was, "We had no time, so we had to copy over what we had in PoE 1 for endgame verbatim." Now they had plenty of time of devs completely ignoring PoE 1 to work on PoE 2 and what do we get? Same thing, more mechanics copied over verbatim but made worse. By that angle, huntress too is just a retread of Ranger with melee aspects and PoE 1 leagues (i.e the ascendancies are just Affliction), with this weird focus on in-and-out skills that almost no one will actually like. I don't know what happened to GGG, but all the PoE 2 dev designs seem like them trying really hard to be hipster and intentionally give players the opposite of what they want. You liked raider fast melee gameplay? Well you were wrong to like it, now we're going to slow you down and make you dart in and out of melee on your melee class. We're going to give you a more attack speed support that only works for 1 second, then it disables your skill for 10 more seconds. What an absolute meme. I agree with OP.
Yes I’m reasonably new to PoE & PoE2, but: 1. all the fans said GGG is such an insane development team that always overdelivers 2. they had that epic 2 hour content stream before launch 3. they said EA will be max 12 months, meaning we only have 3 more of these quarterly patches before full release. I simply expected more from this announcement. If this shows the pace for upcoming 9 months, forget about full release by December. We get 1 class every 3 months, so that means we’ll be waiting for a few years for the 12th class. Then again, maybe they’re focusing on some basics now and shipping 3 classes in every next patch. I’m not holding my breath 🫡 |
