Absolutely disapointed -- This game is hard, and not in a fun way.

im been playing since 2016 and i gotta say , this does not feel like path of exile . It truely feels like elden ring 2.0. Drops are downright disgusting. The dodge mechanic while fun is an absolute MUST!!!! 50% of what i do is dodging . I was very hyped and the dissapointment is genuinly real . I cant even imagine new players trying this . Not enough means of healing and this may be only on my end but gosh does the game feel slow !!!

Strange strawman, but no, it's nothing to do with Tzeentch voodoo in the interwebs.

It's simply that it is uninteractive, and rewards a lazy playstyle. Something that was perfectly acceptable in PoE1 and other offerings in the genre, that PoE2 is trying to get away from, and I fully support the idea of having to actually interact with monsters, strategize, and actually think and work to bring them down, rather than just show up and win.

Why does it bother people? If you find that playstyle lazy, then simply don't play it. For example, I avoid 100 APM builds because, let's be honest, I'm almost 50 and not suited for that anymore. Additionally, necromancy has been my favorite fantasy in RPGs since 1992, so that plays a part too.

ACT 1 minions are incredibly frustrating. I recently tried playing a warrior, and it feels like I'm in a completely different game. It's almost unfair. While I still find the game boring and tedious, playing as a warrior allows me to experience what GGG intended for players.
Playing a minion build in path of exile 1 is insanely fun to me, the fact you end up having such a massive army that you command whilst you buff them and debuff enemies is really cool, and I thought POE2 would let me do that.

Instead POE 2 is a twin stick shooter, because mercenary is the only character i've played so far who feels like his damage output is okay. Seriously, bosses that took me 5-10 minutes on my witch have died in seconds to my mercenary so far. I wouldn't mind if fights were longer, but the problem is so many bosses can just one shot the player that it doesn't feel fun at all. Seriously, the boss at the end of act one was able to do some massive hits, but the boss at the start of act 2 one shots my witch, on top of his minion spam I just can't keep up with it unless im the one spamming out damage.

My brother in christ, 100 APM is not even 2 actions per second.

I also don't enjoy the tedious combat mechanics, exactly matching my expectations from what I had seen before EA opened up.

It took me some tries, but since I have found a class and build that allows me to do the POE1 run-around-boss-in-circles I am actually having a good time.

Looks like you just have to find what works for you.

Update after finishing act one.

I only struggled when my character was underleveled and undergeared. At some point it was level 11 in the level 13 zone, kept died trying to kill the executioner maybe 7 times before I gave up. A few tries he was down to like 5% but the fights did take 5 minutes or more. I did not enjoy those fights at all, way too tedious. Not that is was too hard per se, just found it super annoying and frankly boring constantly dodge rolling around. I can see that some might like this, but it is not for me.

After failing the fight for some 20 minutes I went back, did side quests got a bunch of skill points and gem levels, those 4 extra skill points from books adds a lot of power (50% chaos damage in my case). Back at executioner I facerolled over him without any problem, I think the character was level 14 at that point. A 1 min fight or so. The rest of the act was a cakewalk too.

I learned I just have to (over) level the character more for me to have an easy time.

Still not sure what I think of the game, I have high hopes for the endgame though.

I really tried to like the game, but I can't. This game is closer to dark souls than path of exile 1.

I am at act2 lv 24, playing as warrior and 0 deaths so far. There is one skill that kept me going which was boneshatter for killing packs, but all other skills are beyond trash. For single target I use default attack, for real. I thought GGG finally fixed melee with poe1 3.25 but nope feels such a slog unless you get a super weapon for your level..

Loot is beyond trash, I am picking up magic and even white items to make something remotely useful with the very few currency drops, but all I get is more trash. I thought crafting was supposed to be good, but no, game doesn't respect player's time. I know luck is important, but luck shouldn't hinder player progress. I once dropped 2 alchemy orbs at lv.3 boss, then went to lv.24 and lv.20 (2 characters) with 0 alchemy orbs. Don't have enough regal, exalt, not even transmutation orbs despite clearing every area throughly.

Passive tree gutted beyond ground, no flat regens, very few maximum life/mana and elemental resistance nodes. I guess GGG wanted us to have them in our gear, but well, I can't. At lv.24 I have 10ish resistances, and I can't kill boss because my DPS is not enough, my life flask depletes by boss' fire attacks. Knowing boss mechanics doesn't cut it if you are melee, you still get hit a lot.

Quest rewards are also all over the place, finishing a quest at act2 and got a lv.1 uncut support gem as reward, not cool.

I do like hard games (except souls-like), but poe2 is beyond hard. It is an unfair, unrewarding, frustrating experience.

Also why put sanctum first, for ascendancy? If you really wanted to have sanctum for ascendancy, you could put it after ultimatum, that way players could actually get their ascendancy when they reach there. 30 minutes of sanctum and losing at boss 10% hp because my dps was not enough before boss turns its small arena to normandy beach during ww2, slowly chipping away my honour by dozens of projectiles all over the arena.

I will just complete the 3 acts if I can push myself a little more, then just put it aside until game feels fair.

I hope poe1 will not be forgotten, because of poe2.

Sekhema is not required to ascend. You can do 100% of your ascendancy through Chaos.

The game is not beyond hard. There are effectively literally zero maximum life nodes on the skill tree, so I'm not sure what you're on about with there being too few. There aren't any. That is by design. You don't need a bunch of max life and resist on the tree to survive. Keep trying friend, you are too used to being spoon fed. Strategize, approach things from a new direction. Maybe try a different class. Or maybe come back when all this complaining has gotten GGG to fold on their ideals and dumb the game down just like what happened with D4.
Dodge roll would be good if the whole game was not built around it. This is a serious problem because they should plan the game mechanics and everything from scratch to get rid of the mandatory, overused dodge mechanic.

I found out something interesting:

After ragequitting i watched some streamers playing the game. And I found their game looks exactly like mine: same kill speed, same deaths here and there, kiting all over the place, bad gear. And what I consider a tedious slog, they obviously like a lot.

So it's nothing to to with "gid gud", it's just a difference in frustration tolerance.

If the game remains in it's current state, it's not for me. Because i do not need to "get better", I'm at the sameskill level of the people who enjoy the gameplay. So it will remain frustrating for me.

A pity, I was really looking foward to PoE2 :-(
