POE 2: Class Gender Lock is a Step Backwards

Don't we get only half the classes in EA.
Maybe the missing 6 classes are the same ones as their male/ female counterparts.

However, where are my furry fox options?

just pick the class you like and identify yourself as w/e you want, isn't that like it works nowadays??
Didn't care about it in D2. Don't care about it in Poe. This is not dragon age or baldur's gate or what have you.
This is the non-est non issue that ever nonned.
I'm just curious what motivates people to post in a thread that doesn't concern them. Too many posts along the lines of "It doesn't bother me" or "I don't care".

Are people still chasing post counts in 2024?

That being said, I tend to want to feel like I am the avatar I am controlling, which makes me gravitate towards male characters. Does that mean I would not play the Sorceress? No. Would I change the Sorceress to a male Wizard if given the option? Yes.
I have to defend the OP.

As a former MMORPG player, I would also prefer to have Male/Female options for all classes. I tend to only play male classes as I RP as myself in fantasy world and I don't view myself as female :D

IMO the main reason why GGG has not allowed us to choose gender is that it require significant amount of development time. So please stop with lore arguments.

To the OP. I recommend you to get used to the fact that in POE you will never be able to choose your gender. At the end, when you put MTX, you won't even notice.

POE is such a great game, and the lack of character creator is just one small downside you should just ignore. On the other hand, I tend to play "STR" classes the most and those are usually males, thank god.

I never understood how someone sees themselves in a game character. I am here.. at this side of the screen... I cannot be there a the other side.
You can have characters / classes with an identity (backstory, voice acting, personality, etc..) OR you can have generic, shallow, but visually customizable characters with no identity.

I prefer the first, because it adds more depth to the game world.

A witch is a witch and cannot be anything but female. The same way a marauder or duelist have to be men. Granted, there are some classes that could be either, but that's not a good enough reason to turn everyone into a generic edit and remove character personality from the game.

I'm not a dev so I can't say for sure but unless necessary I imagine they reuse what they can, I would not be surprised if the skeleton for witch, sorceress, and even probably the ranger, etc, is the same one. Then you just wrap a different skin around it, but since the moveset for all the gems is the same thing there wouldn't be a good reason to make different ones, hell you could just scale the skeleton a bit larger or smaller to give an impression of difference and then all the MTX don't have to be changed either as all you have to do is scale them up and down as well. (which again already happens in PoE 1 with certain parts of Rage and that one shrine)

Good animation is not like that. Female and males walk and run differently because of the hip/Femur angle. So you need to do different animations for female and males. IF you want to add other differences as height, you have nother set that must be remade (because tall people move diferently from short ones, specially running)
