POE 2: Class Gender Lock is a Step Backwards

This is the way.

It was stated long long long ago that they were actually working on this for POE1, but obviously nothing came of it.
I can't ever tell the gender of my character once they are all drowning in MTX drip. I guess the voices can give it away but, does it matter? Can mute them if being a guy or girl annoys you that much.
Not a big deal imo.
I also think we should be long past gender lock for a modern RPG. I don't even care about hair or eye color. Just allow me to choose male or female. Locking in gender guarantees I won't be playing certain classes. But I highly doubt this can be changed so I won't be holding my breath.
I prefer the way it is.
When I play Sonic, I want to be sonic.
When I play super mario, I want to be SuperMario.
When I play Blanka I want to be Blanka.
When I play a templar, I want to be a pantless old man with a big neck.

I love these kind of games, there are plenty of other games with a lot of customization out there. While also fine, I appreciate you can be the way they are and chosing some class actually means being that class, that character with the design made for him/her, and also easier to recognize.

So I actually disagree with OP. I prefer games like D2 and PoE over others like D3, D4, and "modern" things.

TLDR: First, its not important. Second, for some of us (and a lot as you see) is even better the way it is. I'm fine with class gender choosing and customization in a CRPG, or in other kind of games. I however hate it when implemented games like these one. SO I cant be happier they keep it the way it is. I love playing witch and feeling like her, then play a marauder and playing like him. No big deal. It even brings identity to the class and a fantastic way to roleplaying the class as the devs designed it.

Anyway, no big deal in any case (and I would have not been mad if there were gender classes selection; I prefer not, but I find it irerelevant). If its a big deal for someone, well, plenty of other games to chose.

I will finish saying it is not a step backwards. More like a step FORWARD that makes PoE unique from the life we are living nowadays. It was good to be a rebel in the 80's, its good to be a rebel now. It's always good to be an exiled rebel.

You're so offended playing either the same or opposite gender you literally won't play them. Sounds like a you issue. Buy one armor set off the mtx store and mute voices, you'll never know. This mentality is insane.

We don't care less, du. That's your issue, not a videogame issue, honestly.
Not trying to be rude (and really sorry if this offended you) but it is what it is. Peace.

Another account with default avatar, no support packs and zero challenges completed on any league. Back in my day trolls tried a little harder. Who remembers the people saying the game was causing PTSD because the civilians in oriath were killable? Those were the days
Didn't they say they were adding alt genders as MTX or something? Smart decision if so.

couldn't care less. i am here to slay monsters. not to play identity politics.

in POE 1 by the time you get to endgame you can't even see your character with all of the armor and on screen effects going on all around you. by that point you've got a thousand other things with your character to care about. gender ain't one of them. this is so insignificant to the game that i feel like this kind of topic is just trollbait.

I mean why does anyone bother with the MTX then, it's all about getting the flavor of character you want, so I can understand wanting more choice.
