Expecting something to change just because a "fraction" is asking for it and labeling people who point out the size of that fraction as "tribalistic"... I'd call that to be kinda entitled. It suggests that your POV should be taken into consideration despite it's actual weight, even though there is a clear absence of overwhelming need for the change.

It doesn't "matter" in the same way that this game doesn't "matter." There's a civil war that's been raging in Syria since 2014, about as long as PoE has been around. None of this "matters."
I like to create custom characters in RPGs when the option is available. I don't typically play games where the feature is not available. It's enjoyable for me, and makes me feel more connected to my character. It's also weird to see a bunch of the same guy, since they are established characters after all, running around in the same world.
Personally this is not a deal breaker for me. I've played a decent amount of D2, a game which I love, and the characters being preset is fine, but that's because the game is just so good. PoE 2 looks to be the same. I'm still extremely excited to play it and not being able to make a character is not a deal breaker. If the option to purchase an alternate character model ever becomes available, I will probably buy it, if the cost is reasonable.

F2P games sell new characters all the time.

The reputation of selling $150 armor skins? Be real brother, this is no different. Just an alternate character for an existing class. Another form of MTX to support the game, that could exist in perpetuity for the game's lifespan.
