SSF > Trade Leagues

Yes the progression is slower, but it's not worse or impossible like people make it seem. It's just slower to attain... maybe that is what you guys are talking about?

Of course it is.

"Are you at a disadvantage regarding progression when you play SSF instead of trade league?" Yes. Yes you are. That's the handicap. That's the "gimping".
Sometimes, just sometimes, you should really consider adapting to the world, instead of demanding that the world adapts to you.
whats with people calling ssf hc masochists

The only way I'll ever bother to waste time on SSF is if PoE gets an offline mode.

Why, so you can hack the client?

It refers to Yggdrasil, from Norse Mythology, the tree connecting the nine worlds. Some people refer to the passive tree as "Skilldrasil".

Well, there's a word you don't see everyday. Actually had to look it up. Shame on me for not being a native English speaker, I guess.

So that raises the question: are the top SSFHCers better PoE players than the top non-? To borrow someone else's favourite little exaggeration, absolutely.

That depends on what you consider good though. This isn't a skill based game nearly as much as a character building game. I only consider the people who figure out new ways to break the game any better than other players.
Need a new signature, cuz name change. I dunno though. I guess this seems fine. Yeah, this is good.

That's only true in ssf sc and sc leagues due to both of these having a flawed ecosystem where there is next to no item sink whatsoever and no character loss on death. That would obviously lead to build optimization to be the next best thing that differentiates a good/bad player... well that and time.

In ssfhc your items are going to be typically worse than other leagues. Bosses that normally get 1 shot are alive for a long time. It tests your mechanics far more than anything other leagues can offer. If you want an example, if you watch zizaren stream ssfhc you might catch him getting the elder orb from shaper. The fight looks easy as a viewer, but hes doing those fights with garbo dps. As someone who also got the elder orb.. that fight with 100k-150k dps was by far harder than anything I've ever done in sc. That includes UE and aul. When I do shaper in sc, I literally think of that guy as easier than red map bosses.
