SSF > Trade Leagues
Gotten to 94 before in SSF.
It was alright. Hit a wall... got bored... transferred over. There's devils on each side of you with bottles in their hands.
You need one more drop of poison and you'll dream of foreign lands. |

" I played D2 on and off for 8+ years - without a battle.net account. Needless to say, never traded. How I spent my first 3 years of PoE too. We're all searching for our own 'fun'. People find it in the strangest places. Sometimes, just sometimes, you should really consider adapting to the world, instead of demanding that the world adapts to you.

The only way I'll ever bother to waste time on SSF is if PoE gets an offline mode.

In any game there are going to be a small % of masochists. So in PoE SSF is for them.
GGG stated from the get-go that SSF would not change drop rates or challenge difficulty in any way. It would be the same as trade league. That's GGG speak for "we don't have the human resources to balance a completely separate database for SSF play so we're not going to". GGG is just too small a company to do that. Hell, they don't even have time to code/debug/balance the next challenge league. We start day 1 playing a beta challenge league every 13 weeks and are GGG's beta-testers because GGG can't do it in time. So the first month the QoP is shit, then GGG has had time to squash most of the bugs and QoP is usually ok, er... as good as we've come to expect from them. GGG has to "skate or die" (if you ever played the 360 skate board game way back) meaning they have to move on to the next challenge league or else suffer player base collapse and die as a company. But GGG has painted themselves into their own corner by coming to the conclusion that they will make the most money if they make PoE into a shooter to entice the Fortnite and alike crowds to play and spend their money. So SSF is the league that in theory sounds great to boast about "I play SSF as I'm a bad ass PoE survivalist" but in reality don't really play it or don't enjoy playing it. So sad. :( "You've got to grind, grind, grind at that grindstone..."
Necessity may be the mother of invention, but poor QoP in PoE is the father of frustration. The perfect solution to fix Trade Chat: www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2247070 |

" Is gimping yourself an adjective that is related to "time value of currency and goods"? Or are we saying there is no way SSF gear can compete with trade gear? I"m confused. Crafting is so powerful now. Those exalt crafted sceptres, wands, and swords? Yeah you can do that in SSF now. No problemo. If you guys are including time as a factor I would say yes, you get get items faster in trade... but doesn't mean you can't get similar or better items if you have time in SSF. In a three month period of a league, if you are a person that has to have mirror tier gear in every slot then YES trade is the answer. However, with the current powerlevel attainable in game none of that power is necessary for any content in the game. It is completely superfluous. I freaking beat uber elder with a damn Scaeva and Prismatic Eclipse! Then went on to craft these... and started to farm those fools. Maybe I'm confused with the terminology or something. So "gimping" is related to time to achieve a milestone in POE or the actual achieving of a milestone? Yes the progression is slower, but it's not worse or impossible like people make it seem. It's just slower to attain... maybe that is what you guys are talking about? Last edited by Prizy#1622 on Jul 31, 2019, 4:14:41 PM

and that slowing down of progression is what appeals to me. afterall i want to play the league for the entire duration. i don't want to get tired of the game, feeling like i need to reroll and build 20 different characters so i feel like im getting use out of my 100 exalts etc, all just to do the same thing i was doing on my last character.
my goal in a league is always to min/max a character or two. thats all i care about. in trade league, once you're a month in you already have enough currency to really craft the best in slot stuff or to buy it. all the while having to FRUSTRATINGLY interact with trade. in ssf it takes much longer to grind for your own materials to attempt at making such things. but this gives your gaming sessions more purpose than "let me run 200 more glacier maps so i can afford a 10ex piece of something i want" i can't wait until next league. i hope it offers such a variety of drops and loot as legion has. |
