Chaos to alt ratio ripoff

Duskbane, you use your experience to tell people that trading fusings for chaos takes no time.

I tell you that it does out of my experience.

So if you want to say your experience if more accurate than mine than give numbers please.

Also I don't mind bumping the Thread.

It is true that you can get 2 fusings for 16 alterations nothing wrong with telling people about it. But it is also nothing wrong with telling people just because you can get 2 fusings for 16 alts doesn't mean someone gets 'rippedoff' by trading 20 alts for 1 chaos.

As long as there is no way to convert alterations to chaos through the vendor it is legit to ask for whatever you want in that trade.

There is no counter argument to this... I don't get why the OP is still tying. He isn't making any sense.
I'm in an abusive relationship with life. It keeps beating the hell out of me and I'm too cowardly to leave it.

Completely different topic, but there's a common vendor sell recipe to acquire chromatics and you can even buy this vendor recipe frequently from the vendor and sell it right back to them. As such, they're much easier to acquire than alterations.

Even without IIR/IIQ you will get much more alterations than chromatics.

There is a single vendor recipe for chromatics? WOW I can sell every magic or rare item for alterations.

Simply get some IIR/IIQ, go to the docks, kill only the first group, collect all magic and rare items, identify and sell it to vendor and you get an alteration. In average I get about 3 alterations per docks run WITHOUT IIR/IIQ.

Or farm e.g. Vaal (with IIR/IIQ) - a run is about 2.5 minutes and you'll get 2-x rares + tons of magic items. Every rare is about 0.4 alterations in average. So you'll get at least 1-2 alterations per run.
=> A chromatic is worth 2 alterations - at least!!!
People are holding on to their upper tier (GCP, Chaos Exalted) currencies right now. No one is offering any of these for sale for lower tier currencies (fuses, jewellers, alcs).

Its an upper tier market since the chaos recipe nerf. We'll see how high the asking price of alts for chaos go, I speculate it may take up to 40 alts if you want to convince me to sell you 1 chaos orb, hell maybe 50 alts for a chaos orb :)
POE is a constantly evolving game, so expect balance changes, buffs and nerfs STILL!
My point was that theres no "scam" since theres not a set in stone exchange value for alts:chaos. It doesnt matter how many players agree to X ratio- if it cant be backed up at the vendor, its subject to player interpretation and market fluctuation.

All the upper tier orb recipes getting nerfed also means fewer chaos/regals/alchs, while most of the rares that used to go into those recipes are now being sold for alts. Alts 20:1 Chaos might seem like a pretty good deal a few weeks from now.

Those 4 alterations may sound petty, but its 25% and that adds up big if you are selling large amounts. 25% is a retardedly large "handling fee" considering you really are not saving much time/effort. Fusings are still extremely popular/valuable (overpriced imo).

That being said, this concept is nothing new. Every mmo has people who "merchant" to make a profit by buying low and selling high to idiots/lazy people.
omg did i just see the OP say its easier to obtain chroms than alts....

the noobness is off the charts....

no sir, it is much harder to get chromes than alts, because again u need to invest time in vendor shopping, and it takes luck, to get them from vendor or from loot, as for alts, just pump up ur iir and grind normal boss, you get tons of alts in no time....

and no sir, it takes more than "5mins" to trade your fuse into chaos, especially when you have lots of fusing to trade....

funny how all these people bitch about "RIP OFF!!!" joined after open beta... you guys will learn how the economy works here in a few more months.

You're clearly one of the ones doing it. This man in your analogy is actually doing a good deal of work making this table for you. The people who sell their 20 alts for 1 chaos are not being done a service that they are paying extra for; they are simply giving more to a player than they would be giving to a vendor for the same end result. There is no work involved.

have you ever tried to consolidate scrolls into something more useful? i'd gladly overpay on that one (and do) to save time/effort. The amount of time it takes to convert might seem petty to you, but if i had 500 alterations i'd be happy to save some time which i could complete a map in (maybe not quite that fast now that we have right clicking).

and yeah you get an alt for every 2-3 rares that drop, i.e. once every 1-2 mins. chromatics take a bit longer, probably get 2-3 gear drops per map depending on quantity.

Chaos is not desirable and is very common, nerfed receipt or not so i´d say it doesnt belong in upper tier at all.

Exalt and gcp are holding value while all orbs used as currency below chaos, including chaos, is loosing value in relation to gcp/exalt.

Everyday more ppl is starting to stack alch/fusing/chaos and same people want to convert their currency to higher currency, using old/current poeex rates for that is getting harder everyday.

As of today i'd say you wont be able to upgrade your chaoses somewhat easy to exalt unless you pay atleast 17 of them.

Recently the only times i've been able to sell 15 chaos for exalt was with new players who got lucky and got an exalt in normal, they obviously have no use for exalt as currency nor crafting so they gladely take 15 chaos.

Well, 20 alts for 1 chaos perhaps is overpriced and you could call it a ripoff.
But 16 alts for 1 chaos is stupid too, because I wont do profit with that.

There is simply no reason to trade if you dont make profit.
Nobody, no bank or any other institute will change your money for exactly the exchange rate.
I dont want to waste my time with no profit trades too and so I want at least! 17 alts for a chaos.

The prices for alterations are more or less ok, 20 is very expensive but not sooo bad imho.
The real ripoff is made with chromatics. I see offers like 1 alch for 10 chromatics all the time in trade chat. 1 chrom is much more worth than 1 alteration!

1 Word describes you good sir. Ignorant. Don't speak on stuff you obviously don't know about. I can farm 1k+ Alterations in a few hours. How many chromatics can you farm in a few hours?

@OP

You should get all your supporters & form a group to police trade chat. I'm sure that GGG will make you all MOD's & you can ban anyone that tries to conduct a trade that you might think is unfair. What a great game this will be with you watching over everyone & I'll sleep so much better knowing that you're on the job, looking out for all the noobs & uninformed. I'll bet that GGG will make it mandatory for all new players to attend "TRADING" school that will be run by you. I'm sure that GGG has spent the last few months searching high & low for a zealot..errr..player with your dedication & outlook to hire as "THE TRADE POLICE" supervisor.

FYI: Anytime I see the trade police in the chat I put them on IGNORE.
