I'm hoping GGG is getting the statistics this announcement is providing.

First of all, i wanna say that the drop from mastermind lair is totally bullshit (waste of time) second of all ....these challenges are more about grind, that`s why almost no one spent time to do 40/40 , there is no fun in completing the challenges , i mean...last few times i did not find them fun at all. it is just grind and grind and grind. Make them more casual and you will see the improvements. It is just a game, no one will die if you more players will have more challenges done. ggg
On the mastermind fight...

I did it once to see it, decided its difficulty was out of sync with anything else & stopped bothering with it.

I have done it a second time as a way to quickly force an extra research boss reward while my research was still low XP (and after I'd just cleared out the strongholds for everything else).

I was amused that research was so annoying to level that I was prepared to do mastermind in order to get research.

I'm flabbergasted that no mention was made in the OP about the Mastermind encounter breaking your entire setup. It seems to me that is the #1 reason people don't kill that boss (even more than the danger and the crap rewards--people run difficult bosses despite crap rewards all the time!).

Wasn't this obvious?

That's the issue that needs addressing if you want people to engage that boss.

The problem with doing that is that making challenges easier to complete was GGG's reasoning from going from 6 challenges to 40 challenges. If they extend them to 60 then they'll just make them more tedious every league again until people want 80 or 100 challenges.
I spent most of my time this league avoiding syndicate encounters altogether. The risk is rarely worth the reward in my experience as they seem far more unbalanced than the other content. Most of the encounters become so chaotic its nearly impossible to do anything other than smash the keyboard repeatedly and pray never the less try to target or dodge any one thing intentionally. Out of 5 attempts I was never able to complete a single mastermind fight and when it takes 30 hours to get to a mastermind fight and it causes a total reset of the board that is an incredibly frustrating waste of time. And from what I've heard I'm not missing anything anyways as far as the rewards.

Love all the other changes, thank you for all your hard work on what is otherwise an incredible game :)
I *just* hit 36/40 challenges completed. I'm pretty happy just getting the back attachment each league, but this league was something else and the 1.08% shows that!

I do feel special for being a part of the 1.08% though, lol.

no need to invent anything. just integrate them into all the other crafting concepts that are already in the game. you can turn recipes into an upgraded room in the incursion temple, prophecies, fossils, essences, add them to the crafting bench, etc.
