Betrayal Statistics
It's simple - Mastermind rewards value is not even close to the Pure Breach stones and Gilded Scarabs so why would anyone run it more then once. I did it twice - first for challenge and the second because I needed get specific syndicate member for challenge and was still not able to get him by killing individual members.
Master mind rewards: 2 of 4 Mastermind uniques are mainly for summoners 3 items are ES based - just these two things excluded interest of majority of builds. Why there is no option e.g. for life based characters. The flask base is also questionable how many characters actually use Silver flask I am not sure. Put the same mods on Basalt and make the flask drop rare and there will be point in using the flask. I would not have any problem putting Pure Breach stone upgrades and Gilded Scarabs as Mastermind fight reward. Actually to me it seems much more healthy solution overall because now you can't go deep delve without Scarabs. And I made nice profit selling them this league. The Mastermind fight difficulty is not an issue it may be chaotic but we can live with it. But simply said nobody makes a profit running master mind only looses profit. On the other hand this is my favorite league playing since open beta. It's not because of core league mechanic but because of variety of things I can do. I can run maps, Delve, go temple time to time, do a Safehouses. So if I am bored with one thing I can do something else still playing the league. "The most concerning result for us here is that Masterminds are run less often than we intended. Part of this will be the danger of the encounter, which becomes very clear when we look at the breakdown across various Betrayal league types"
What? No, the reason for it is simply its NOT worth doing cause of shit loot, ruins progression of your safehouses which yields better loot. Also it takes AGES to get to Mastermind. Its simply as offputting as eating lean chicken when you can barbeque your chicken. |

I have a lot of friends who play path, and none of them have ever expressed anywhere near the amount of vitriol that I have seen expressed in this and basically any other thread posted by GGG. I am sorry you guys have to put up with this. I believe that these are just people who haven't found a balance between video games (mainly POE) and real life, and because of all the issues that come from not having a balanced life, they are angry, and possibly because of other things that are going on in there life that leads them to seek so much time in video games.
Yes there are bugs and issues in this game, there may even be more than in other games, but I would attribute that to the complexity of the game and that this is the price of having a game that allows players so much freedom of choice. Anyways, as I said earlier, me and most of my friends who have played this game, really enjoy it, and I love how I can come back and play for a league, I usually get burnt out after a while, but then I take a break and come back and its a new league. I am always genuinely excited to come back (I used to play WoW in a similar fashion, but whenever I came back I always felt like an addict, and there was little excitement). Lastly I would like to say again that all of my friends who play really love this game, despite its oddities, and would never say the kind of BS that people are spouting in here, and my friends range from casual to hardcore. Anyways, it seems to be a fad with people getting angrier and angrier on the internet, really sad. But I wanted to say thank you guys, I love this game, and you have created somethingn really awesome that keeps me and my friends coming back again and again, and we love doing so! I hated this league, probably more than the Bestiary league, if that's possible. The only reason i've played it was because the winter orb skill and the masters challenges.
I didn't even get to the HQ mastermind house or whatever it's called, because i've lost interest and took way, waaaay too long to get there. The first part of the league, the betrayal encounters were way, way too dangerous; i did all the atlas, elder, shaper, everything but uber elder, and the most i've died was in those dreaded encounters. So i gave up doing those until the nerf patch. It didn't help that one needs a freaking excel chart to figure out the rewards and the mechanics behind the whole concept. After the patch i've found out that you can essentially cheat the game by running betrayal endlessly in a lower tier area (the freaking bridge) and that others have been doing this for a while, disrupting the whole economy for plebs like me who couldn't make 400+c per hour. This should have been patched from day 1. This is garbage. Not only the trade system is a nightmare, now the economy was a mess. Great. So i've stopped playing a couple of weeks ago. I wish GGG would stop spitting out new content each league, content that's half baked, unbalanced (esp when it comes to difficulty) and basically a beta for enough time of the league that it becomes a problem. And even when they're pushed to core, they're still not working properly (alva and its difficulty to get t3 rooms), delve's sulphite problem etc, problems that were time and time again signaled by the community. And the trade system, my god, the horror that this game is when you just want to buy some freaking maps, fragments or currency. I'm not even talking about items, but basic stuff like the above. later edit: to the guy above me, here's an idea: most of the people you are referring to are doing this because of how much they love the game. Shocking, i know, but that's the reality. The worst case scenario for a dev is when its player base does not care anymore and moves on. Last edited by D3adGh0st#4819 on Feb 7, 2019, 6:30:16 AM

GGG, you got it so wrong...
Sometimes statistics tell you what people do, not why they do what they do. Why don't we kill Mastermind ? 1. It resets the board 2. The rewards are bad From a player that got 100 in BHC, 38/40 challenges and did the syndicate farming strategy. GG GGG

All about syndicate has been already said, but one thing - the veiled mods. These were absolutely great, and I would really like to see them in the core game. Maybe, I would just change the way how you obtain them, e.g., dropping on map bosses to make the fights more profitable and not skipped most of the time? Other syndicate-related parts can go to trash. Thank you anyway for your great work!

As a player that came back after nearly 5 years of a break from PoE i can say that the actual League felt like a pesky progress blocker to me.
After 5 years it was nice to see how the game evolved, how the story progresses through all the news acts and so on, but with implenting all the previous leagues content and additional the syndicate now the game feels....absolute overloaded. The betrayal syndicate tops this with standing everywhere in the way interrupting the maps playflow with overpowered forts, transports and so on. Somewhen i managed to get them in the state where only underground labs spawned...thanks god, a moment of silence. I really, really appreciate new content but actually it feels absolute overloaded with things on each map (for me as a new player). Either the syndicate comes, 50 metres far away alva sits somewhere in the outskirts, and if it´s not alva then it´s some othe leagues master that feels the need to pull you out of another mission you are actually heading on. The next thing is that the rewards for "new players or even more casual players" seem to be none existend. I often read in the chat from the same groups about the great loot they got, and when i upgrade my maps, put on some mf-stuff and increased item amount things i still don´t nearly get anything. I somewhere read that magic find got nerfed into bottom of hell somewhen....great decision, not. However, you have made a great basegame, you lost ...another game producer as a competitor that should make it a lot easier for you to gain a far bigger playerbase now, but for me, after 5 years coming back.....it looks like you have absolute no direction for your game. Don´t overload the maps too much, give solo players also a bit of reward (and not just the high tier farming groups that swim in currency), rework some skills and also some uniques so they can compete with high tier craftings and give magic find (i know, you call it item rarity :P ) a sense again to use. edit: For to also keep on the topic i did not kill mastermind because i did not even get close to that as a solo player. 1-2 Safehouses where max for me and that was more.....random luck in choosing right connections then planned tactics. Later i lost interest and prefered to get rid of the syndicate encounters as fast as possible. If you would ask me if Betrayal should be integrated into the core game - definatly no. 1. the rewards of MM fight are not worth it
2. there is no real story telling behind each section u farm ill explain that in 3. 3. finishing each area in the syndicate should all lead to something which maybe the big fight at the end , if all areas has some kind of relation and all builds up to the master-mind fight which has a good reward depending on how u build ur syndicate layouts , then people will be pushing all areas and reaching a satisfying conclusion after the big fight (MM fight) in the end of every cycle . 4. you can make it a journey like encounter , where first u need to finish transport in this case u decide which guys u kill in transport area, then u finish research ,here also u set ur targets , then u need to finish intervention , and lastly u finish fortify , this way ur set for the final boss fight , which rewards u nicely according to how u set ur path towards the fight 5. change the dam fight mechanics ( too long , too many phases , too many immortal phases , two rooms , broken one shots ) difficulty and boss phases should be based on how u set the road to the fight , so if u defeat level 3 bosses on the way to the fight while setting the the graph , ull have an easier mastermind fight and more rewarding , if u kill low levels on the way to last fight , ull end up with harder fight and less tier rewards , etc 6. this way the league will have more meaning , and will set a satisfying challenge that ull want to do over and over. the grind will be more rewarding and much more fun , and people will no longer abuse one area and neglect every thing else 7 . its worth it to mention one more thing which has to do with the area u farm the syndicates in , usually the higher the maps tier the more reward u get from masters , in betrayal case people dnt even bother , they farm them in aqueducts , since at higher tier maps , the fight is just crazy for one and for second even while the fight is much harder u dnt get any more points per fight , like if u face them on tier 16 maps and ur not ready they easily one shot u , and when u kill them they give as much points as they do in acts which is just sad ..... 8. sorry for the long msg , i hope next leauge will be something as good as delve master peace . |
