Betrayal Statistics

Look at the MAstermind bossfight. This is some of the worst things ever made, takes forever, to many immunity phases, builds wich rely on leech are heavily in a disadvantage, liferegen builds = use steering wheel for racinggames and maneuvre like a boss through it.

The whole fight + REWARD vs time and work invested is garbage.

As much as I have to say I dislike Uber Elder (due to some builds get heavily punished by its mechanics), its SUPERB compared with Mastermind.

This was a huge disappointment!

I'm not a very good player and only play SSF, but I just can't be bothered with this Betrayal League hoohaw. Inchoate nonsense.

I won't play Bestiary -- kill caged beasts, what fun. I can't abide Alva or her racist temple. The crafting is all stuffed up. Not enough Delve. I want my old Masters and crafting back!

But there you go, I've seen that some players really are enjoying it, everyone is different.

I never could abide the glued-on end-game and nothing that has been done to it has made it any more coherent. I've spent more time on my hideouts, but that's messed up too.

Time I stopped playing this game, for a year or so...

Funny, I've spent much more on this game than any full game I ever bought!

This Mastermind league is crap. Early on it was 1 shots all the time. I died mostly to these Betrayal mobs spawning on top of me.

Didn't get enough Sulphite to get deep enough to get me 6-link. Got tired of having to log in and spam the first 10-15 player with the map needed to run the maps with masters. Sometimes I would get a reply back. I stopped trying to buy maps for masters because it wold take longer to buy a map then it took to run the map. I want to play, not spam for traders.

The voice overs sucked. These challenge leagues are too short for me, I play 1-2 hours a day and have not made it to the end. I've unlock the mastermind only one time and then lost the person that did the Veil enchant on items. It took too long to unlock the mastermind, I may be able to unlock one more time before this league ends. And what is with this crap that if you kill a Betrayal mob in a level 60 zone, you looses you level 82 safe house (it becomes level 75)? Can you at least show the safe house level before we open it? Never got the +1 to totem crafting recipe for shield.

I like this game but it's a mess, not enough players in standard and challenge leagues are too short to play when you work 55 hours and week and have wife and kid. But in the end, this new league is just garbage.

Mastermind resets the syndicate board, and thus will always be useless.
It takes forever to create a perfect syndicate board (it took me 8 hours of nonstop syndicate farming, with 2 minutes per run), and a single mastermind run resets the entire board progress.

If you want more masterminds to be run, then you have to remove the board reset upon completion.
so much of the crap mechanics in Betrayal league makes me really suspect Tencent has a lot more say over PoE than GGG has let on...

It's also really sad that this total clusterfuck league came out just as many "diablo immortal" refugees had a look at PoE...

So, here are my thoughts on the league, coming from a guy who somehow chose this of all leagues to first reach endgame:

1) Rewards for syndicate content are basically nothing. Headbutting a ton of Intervention encounters to eventually get some scarabs (which are basically the best thing the league content has to offer) meant nothing to me during the Acts, since maps are inaccessible until endgame. The other rewards were basically nothing I didn't get just by playing the rest of the game and disregarding league content entirely.

2) The "bargains" offered by defeated syndicate members had a strong tendency to be counterproductive nonsense. No, I don't want to switch these guys out of the divisions where I placed them literally one encounter ago, and I definitely don't want Cameira to bail out and get replaced by Vagan.

3) The syndicate members scaled up much more swiftly than the game around them. In the early game, a dude showing up to help his friend was a neat little bonus. By babby's first map, it was (often literally) instant death.

4) It takes forever and a day for any sort of payoff to emerge from syndicate stuff. This is a combination of the lack of members with good rewards, the often useless options given by defeated members, and the intel bars just being altogether too long compared to the tiny trickles of progress we get when the choices finally stop being counterproductive. Those numbers need looking at.

All in all, the concept isn't bad, but the execution is.
