Mastermind is the worst fight I ever seen mechanic wise!!!
Another reason for no one doing it is not just trash rewards, but I have completed only 1! till i reached 96lvl... so wtf is this, who the heck have 1 week time to get the int needed for 1 fight. Everything around Mastermind is just terrible, I hate this league. Yea scarabs are nice and some ideas like 3 white sockets are so nice, but the way you getting it is just not fun. Fuckin farming Ossuary 24/7 nice fuckin league.

If there is no delve scarabs and Delve itself I would stopped playing this league after a month max. Atm the only fun thing for me is Delve...

edit: another very important thing! this bestiary fuckin shit. Im getting same beasts over and over again. Is it because im running mostly t16 maps, I have no idea but this is just ridiculous. I did like only 2,3 boss fight shitty spider and something else. And im playing every day. No sign from the tiger boss. And the recipes... i have like maybe only 15-20 recipes, because im fuckin getting same beasts... So should i fuckin level new char to get something different or what the heck is this?

With how expensive cosmetic microtransactions are, naturally players that can't afford $46 cape would want to try and get challenge one.
And then you make it so hard, so so hard and grindy and frustrating to even attempt these challenges, I can absolutely see why it's only 1% of players that even managed to get there.
Some stuff required just doesn't spawn, you need to look in trade chat for people selling portals like delve and bestiary bosses.
Some stuff requires extensive learning and multiple tries to get it right, AND weeks of grinding to just attempt it like mastermind fight.
It's just so frustrating and unfun, it feels like I should have just paid for boss killing and challenge services and I would proudly wear "challenge" cloak by now, instead of bashing my head against the wall.

Given the potential reward, the mastermind encounter is not worth the effort and time, so that's not entirely surprising.

The rewards between Research, Transportation, Intervention and Fortification are also unbalanced, so from a wealth accumulation perspective, some are more worthwhile than others, especially if you aren't trying to complete the league 'challenges'.

Betrayal mechanics is a nice idea but is poorly balanced; it should be significantly reworked if it is to be added to the base game mechanics in the future.
Mastermind encounter is an entirely-unrewarding clusterfuck that i never want to see again after completing it once.

Other than that, while i generally enjoy the league, i've got one suggestion: don't do the biggest league of the year as a December league anymore.
You know that you'll go on your summer vacations very soon after the league starts. And the larger the league is, the more problems will there be - problems that your skeleton crew will not be able to fix.

And i get that this was your year-long plan for 2018, but could you please make something simpler and more straightforward in the next December update?

1) It is a pain.
2) Terrible rewards.
3) It resets syndicate.

I experimented both extremely tanky builds and High clearspeed builds in this league, but both were lacking something for betrayal encounters. Atzoatl and delve's vaal city feels unbalanced too. I really enjoyed the betrayal concept, but rewards are extremely unbalanced, and the challenges demands so much grinding and luck that prevents you from experience new builds and skill mechanics. Leveling up masters feels pointless now, in the previous leagues leveling masters was very important for crafting, and good choice for uniques and rares for ssf characters. some things are pretty confusing too,for example: if you use devouring diadem, how is energy shield recharge supposed to start if you have eldritch battery constantly regenerating ES? why do shaper's stronghold unables your scarabs? why don't you gain hideout's innate decorations if you already had at least one decoration placed in it before? I think it will be nice for this league to last some more than expected, but with the correct balance changes. A very interesting and complete concept tho.

Stupid mechanics. The fact I have to avoid any syndicate stuff so I don't lose my leveling progress is just stupid. Got sick of random 1 shot deaths so just ignored the the new League stuff. I could run T16 maps ok but don't get me started on the Mastermind encounter. Who thought that crap up. Dammmmm!!
