For blizzard to announce a move to Open beta it has to go through so many stages of approval its not just Bashiok saying "HOLY SHIT THERES ANOTHER 100 POST THREAD ABOUT D3 SUCKING, QUICK LET EVERYONE IN".

Of course it was planned, I just happened to only notice it after that plagiarism incident. Actually I didn't notice that open beta stress test thing for Diablo III until today.

I'll get into this a bit by just saying that games are actually becomming an important part of culture now. They bring different nationalities together, they are competitive, they create friendships and discourage prejudices that people would experience in the outside world. They connect people on a level most would not have even thought possible 10-15years ago. In this day and age games play an important part in the social aspect of society. Weather people like it or not they offer a wide arange of aspects for a variety of audiences (hello angry birds??). With technology advancing more and more they are becomming increasingly important and can only get better in the future.
So yeah... games are pretty important just maybe not in a sense thats noticable right off the bat.

Ok,I agree with everything you have said.But video games themselves are not people.Diasblo 3 is not a person.PoE is not a human being.They are pieces of code that have no feelings or soul.So you can say D3 is a piece-of-shit,this-and-that,and it wouldn't matter to me.I'll be playing the beta in an hour and enjoying it regardless of what people here say.People's opinions about video games do not hurt my feelings.
