Charan, I look forward to your take on A4 vs the latest RoS incarnation. Have you had a go at Greater Rifts yet? also, D3 just announced patch 2.2, which looks to have some very interesting content and set changes for some classes.
To the extent you like Wiz lore/image, I humbly recommend you give them a go once 2.2 drops. P. |

" Is the PS4 version also being regularly updated like the PC version? GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

d3 is a million times better than it was, i think youll be pleasantly surprised by ros, its actually a good pc game to play and enjoy in the self found, man v monsters style. Doesnt have the life span of poe but its solid.

Let me summarize my initial thoughts the first time I read this thread after joining 2 months after it was posted.
"Who the fuck is this Charan guy and why does he think I give a shit what he thinks?" I guess he sure showed me. "Danger is like jello, there's always room for more." http://www.twitch.tv/vejita00 Last edited by CliveHowlitzer#0568 on Feb 26, 2015, 5:50:51 AM

I just want to put my experience with D3 out there, I know probably no one will read my wall text but here I go anyways.
Personally I played D3 for over 500 hours when it came out and loved it. I'd been waiting on it for almost 10 years at that point due to being a D2 addict earlier in life. My first impressions were good, everything was still new and I was enjoying the game. I thought I'd be playing for at least the next couple of years as per D2. It was immensely fun to find all my own gear and be one of the first ones to get past the inferno act 2 wall. I also made a lot of money from the RMAH due to the fact that me and a friend were farming end-game content really early and were finding very good gear. Then something changed, patch 1.3 came and I remember just like yesterday how the loot dried up. In that patch, there was a supposed loot adjustment/fix to the loot tables and I NEVER saw the same level of gear as I had found in the previous weeks. Alas, the game was still fun, business in the AH/RMAH was still booming and I was having fun. Then the AH removal came. The auction house was admittedly imperfect but to make such a 180 on trading and the whole economy of the game is inexcusable in my books. To essentially turn the game into single-player mode all of a sudden, who does that? I love trading, it's the reason I play mostly any game. I love the feeling of starting from scratch and becoming the Warren Buffet of a game. My affair with D3 had to stop at that point. To this day I refuse to acknowledge D3 as the successor to D2. We were scammed by the removal of the trade system, we had the most fun build in the game essentialy deleted (RIP WW tornado barb)and we were lied to when they said PVP would be added before any expansion came out. People quickly forget D3 was SUPPOSED to come out with pvp already in the game. Then it became, 'oh it's delayed' which turned into 'here's brawling' which was some sort of concession I guess? It wasn't real PVP though and the game to this day still doesnt have PVP which is a joke. Most of the feedback I've seen from ROS has been positive, the rifts were something everyone wanted seem like they would be a lot of fun. Ultimately though, it's not a Diablo game in my books. tl;dr D3 was good at first but nerfs, no trading, no pvp = rip game |

" na its way behind and blizz has been accused of abandoning the console versions. If you're gonna play it at all id go PC but the controller does have its appeal. E: 2.2 does look cool Don't forget to drink your milk 👌 Last edited by TheWretch#7848 on Feb 26, 2015, 11:47:12 PM

Apologies for the necro, support, but I argue this still has relevance. A few things:
I wanted to see how many views this old bastard has; and I thought it might be an interesting retrospective several years later, now that the PoE vs D3 debate is largely over and at least a few of us are wondering how and when PoE will have to contend with D4; I never did get around to writing that RoS vs Poe 1.4 comparison, which seems so fucking old now. What was PoE 1.4 even like!? I remember very clearly what RoS brought to the game but PoE 1.4...huh. You'd think that PoE 2.0 would be a fairer comparison, but I guess Blizzard beat GGG to the extra-act punch. So...should I do Poe 3.0 vs D3: Rise of the Necromancer? One last hurrah? I say no. Let's be honest: there is no comparison anymore. By creating a 10 act experience, constantly adding skills/gear, and continually tweaking their end-game, GGG have left Blizzard in the dust regarding their respective currently available ARPGs. But it probably wasn't the most awesome of victories in the end: Blizzard quit the field rather than acknowledge defeat and simply went off to make stupid cash in other battles, other wars. Leaving GGG, battered, bloodied and scarred, left to just stare at Blizzard's (likely temporary) withdrawal from the ARPG scene with no real sense of decisive triumph. GGG didn't beat Blizzard -- they just lasted longer and worked harder to get less than Blizzard was happy with. There's no real win in that from the point of view of a company like Blizzard. Not when there are millions upon millions of support-happy Overwaifu players and maybe not quite as many Hearthstone junkies buying booster pack after booster pack. This thread and its many, many replies from closed beta through to early 2015 is a relic but something to be remembered rather than buried. A time capsule and a museum piece from a time when the relationship between players and GGG was very different. It was Chris' direct reaction to this thread in global chat (back when we only had one) that led directly to me supporting as I did. This thread forged that connection, and I'd say represents the forging of many others. There are other PoE vs D3 threads out there but this was mine. There was no other like it. 5 years and 40,000 posts later and I think it's still the best thing I ever wrote on this forum. Happy new years folks, and welcome to PoE2018. https://linktr.ee/wjameschan -- everything I've ever done worth talking about, and even that is debatable. Huh. My mace dude is now an actual cultist of Chayula. That's kinda wild. Last edited by Foreverhappychan#4626 on Dec 31, 2017, 8:19:06 PM
