Time Capsule from PoE Closed Beta -- a classic PoE vs D3 thread circa 2012
That's where you're wrong though.
The goal would be to farm several elites to stack up the nephalem valor buff, and then the boss. The bot would need maphack to guide him towards them, as their positions, especially those of the elites, are random. And as I said, maphack was used for baalruns and such too. But as I've explained, the captcha system makes any kind of tracking unnecessary in the first place. ''Stand amongst the ashes of a trillion dead souls and ask the ghosts if honor matters.

As they say on the internet...
/popcorn This is really interesting stuff to me. https://linktr.ee/wjameschan -- everything I've ever done worth talking about, and even that is debatable.
Huh. My mace dude is now an actual cultist of Chayula. That's kinda wild. |

" Dont say im wrong if you dont understand somthing how it works. If I want that my bot does exactly that, than I would be wrong. The goal of bots are to farm without you need to play. The bot doesn't need maphack to guide him as same as players doesn't know where it is. The bot will clear area by area, until he gets to boss. The captch system will not be in d3 if I remeber good. If it is implemented, than bots would be wery hard to make. |
|
I understand exactly how it works.
But bots not using maphack simply wouldn't be very effective. Not to mension a lot harder to program than simply 'go to this point and press 1 a couple of times'. Also, a point we haven't even discussed yet is difficulty. Diablo 2 was piss easy, but if inferno is even just a bit more challenging this time around, botting is going to be a lot harder to do. " Well, I'm by no means an expert on bots, just in a vague "know your enemy" sort of way. But it has been stated that modern bots for WoW are nigh indistinguishable (damn, that word is hard to spell) from "human" movement and behaviour patterns. And do /popcorn and /read the various thoughts on how one would effectively bot in Diablo III, though, since such thoughts tend to highlight the flaws in any system that can be potentially exploited for maximum gain. It's just human nature: Why do more for something you can have for less effort? But I do agree on those captchas: I know them from Aion They're a major pita for me there, since they tend to pop up when I'm mining an airborne node - and you only have limited flying time, which ticks away even as you answer the captcha (answering them gives you a +5 seconds of fly-time, though). But they do seem to stop bots effectively. Captcha not answered? You plummet to your death... heh. I wouldn't know how Diablo could handle those, though, since it's very action-paced. I just can't see how this would work, i.e. in hardcore: You're dodging some hard-hitting projectiles, circling a host of mobs, when all of a sudden a captcha pops. You freeze, try to frantically put in the code, and in the meantime are mauled to death. Or would they only pop when you've been not killing monsters for a time? Mind you, Diablo III does not have pause function. 12/12/12 - the day Germany decided boys are not quite human. Last edited by Avireyn#0756 on Apr 20, 2012, 10:42:56 AM

" I know about the wow bots. But at the same time, wow is using software over a decade old, and has no integration of battle.net 2 whatsoever. I'm sure people will find holes in the system, but they will be combatted enough that the now metric ton of effort required to bot effectively will simply not be worth it. (better, more advanced navigational programming is needed, as well as a highly intelligent combat system to avoid your bots getting pummeled on inferno) As for captchas, the easiest thing would be to do it when you're out of combat, which does happen often enough. " Wont be effective without maphack? You said you know how bots work and are programed. Maphackes where used only for finding bosses and specific areas so you can get there fast. Map hacks where not used for farming areas, and clearing it. About dificulty no coments becouse we dont know how hard it will be, and will it be easy if you have best items. But you can always farm lower difficulties. |
|
But as I said, you don't farm areas in D3.
You farm specific elites to buff up your nephalem value and then you proceed to the boss. Maphack would make this process faster by a whole lot, that was my point. And yeah, you can farm lower difficulties, but the lowest you can go is hell, which still has lesser items, and lower drop chances for actual good items. You farm everything. The best way is to do it like you said.
It's not impossible to do it, but personally i dont have a idea how I could do it. It would need a lot of work and time, too much for somthing you will not get paid. Wee got a little off topic, but am I the only one that didn't like diablo 1 and 2 music at all? Torchlight 1 and 2 has wery similar music to original diablo 1. |
