Also, both D3 and PoE are the subject of OP's topic here, making them both a valid discussion. It is rabid responses like yours that ruin any real discussion; there is ABSOLUTELY no reason why other, 'normal' people who participate on either forum cannot enjoy both games. So you don't like D3 and PoE is the greatest thing since SMB1 in your opinion. Cool, but there is no reason to lose civility toward others. |

Someone with the user name 'Newtype' on the D3 board wanted to make PoE fans look like dickheads by posting MY opinion where it never belonged (in a very pro-D3 board -- seriously?!). He or she even admitted it was pure trollery somewhere in the thankfully now-deleted thread. The fact that I couldn't respond annoyed me, but I tapped a few WoW and D3 players I know to at least attempt to mitigate the issue. Worst of all, some of the supposed responses by 'me' were modified to make me look absolute, with such BS as 'me' saying that 'Path of Exile will be the greatest ARPG in existence.' What bunk. So no, this whole mess wasn't about a PoE fanboy, it was about a Diablo 3 fan trying to mock and draw negative fire towards Path of Exile. It worked. ...For a little while. This thread will endure. Letting it 'die' is not something anyone who wants to intelligently, constructive discuss PoE, D3, Torchlight 2...or anything related should allow. Account sharing/boosting is a bannable offence. No ifs, ands, or buts.

CharanJaydemyr..I respect you as a smart and intelligent person, who can argue calmly and without insulting other players. I applaud you.
Only problem I have with your responses is, that you claimed .. (in some way or another) .. D3 forum is not good place for constructive discussion because.. immature players there or something... and this forum has higher standards. Well..try create how D3 is awesome game and you will choose it over PoE here and you will see how PoE dogs will eat you alive :) |

Of course, ManiaCCC. There's a time and a place for everything. You don't wander into a rival gang's turf screaming about how you're a member of another gang and how much they SUCK and *bang!*.
I've said this before: if I chose D3 over PoE, I never would have posted here about it. That's very poor form. Very. I can give any number of analogies and metaphors, but I think the one I made above does the job. Also, there is almost no 'choosing' D3 over PoE. PoE is always the alternative. It's not the mainstream, the success-bound blockbuster. It doesn't have every magazine drooling over it, every heard voice on the gaming 'net howling for its release. Therefore to 'choose' D3 over PoE, you have to have at some point, seen PoE as a serious contender to D3's throne. And no one here is going to argue that will happen. It's not the intention of the game and, quite frankly, if PoE were as popular as D3 suddenly, GGG would go under from the pressure quicker than you can say 'server overload oh what the fu--' Account sharing/boosting is a bannable offence. No ifs, ands, or buts.

I am all for constructive discussion my friend and as I said..You have my respect.. I understand your analogy and I know what you want to say. I just don't like praising one community over another. I like both games.. I will play both for sure. And I am part of both communities ..and TBH..both communities are great/awful in same way :)

I agree. If something appeared here that basically took the opposite side of my argument, some sort of 'mirror' of my post called 'Why a fifteen-year Diablo Stalwart chooses Diablo 3 over Path of Exile', I don't think we'd see the prettiest side of the GGG community. Then again, I do think the mods would delete or lock it much sooner than Blizzard's did with 'mine'. And I know I, at least, would try to respond as carefully and measuredly as the original poster. That didn't happen very much over in the D3 board. That said, 'I' did get some good responses that I wanted to answer, and I got corrected on a few points, especially the Blizzard/Activision relationship.
BUT I do think the overall result of posting a pro-D3 'rant' might have been the same as from my pro-PoE rant: Criticism of Path of Exile is generally taken more openly here than criticism of D3 is over there. Sheer volume of posters probably contributes to this, not to mention Blizzard's track record for creating very good, very popular games. Account sharing/boosting is a bannable offence. No ifs, ands, or buts.

I will say, I do get a kick of reading through D3 forums on their opinion of PoE. I mean I dislike D3 for somethings, but wow, want to talk about bias. So.. I figured out now, it all makes sense, THOSE are the people Blizzard made D3 for... Oh!! Now I get it! Because I sure don't feel like they were making D3 for me. " Charan I appreciate your level tone, especially compared to some of the others who were responding earlier. As for the D3 forum, I would lean toward believing that the fact it is more mainstream and supports a larger community, many coming from other games, makes it more of a warzone of stupidity. It REALLY IS NOT a haven of fanboys praising every decision of Blizzard. It's more of a trolling battlefield where every inane idea possible gets mentioned and trolled out of existence. I really wish it served a purpose, but currently its just a chock full of fanboys and haters bringing up the same rehashed topics every day, waiting for a much anticipated game to come out lacking something useful to do in the meantime. |

I saw that GGG's was not that, at least not yet, and took the chance to do my bit to help this forum remain civil and valuable. To encourage community discussion from all sides. And all that other fluffy navel-gazing goodness. ;) ...The fact that it may be 'too late' for the D3 boards is why the only glimmer of goodness I saw in the otherwise abhorrent abuse of my writing there was the fact that there were some pretty good responses *despite* the troll warfare. Apparently Newtype convinced a few people to try PoE -- excellent! I hope they like it as much as me, and if not, well, I'm sure they've spent a more frivolous, wasteful $10 elsewhere. ;) Account sharing/boosting is a bannable offence. No ifs, ands, or buts.
