Nope, they said the same items will drop in hell as in inferno.
Perhaps there will be some items that only drop in inferno, but they haven't said anything about that.
No, they actually said all the same items will drop in all acts of inferno, with later acts being only "mathmatically better" (whatever the hell that is supposed to mean, though speculated they'll just roll with higher range of attributes more often), and that hell/act4 will have a chance to get some inferno quality items as well.
I can dig up the blue post on d3 forums if you're really interested.
EDIT: Actually, I would like you to dig that post up. I see some forum posts right here that say you can get the same items in hell as in inferno.
Point still stands though, inferno is for the people that want to have very high difficulty and high rewards.
Blizzard also wanted to keep hell from D2 intact, and so they added on inferno.
Baishok:
Even though the theoretical best items might come from the later Acts, well-rolled items from earlier acts will still be better. Internally we find sometimes after an intense session of brutally hard Inferno it can be really fun to cruise through Hell Act III or IV and it’s not too uncommon surprise when an upgrade drops. We expect this to carry through to Inferno difficulty where somebody who can theoretically farm Act IV will likely still enjoy romping through Act I simply because the drop potential is still there. It’s all because of the highly random items having lots of overlap in their power distribution curves.

so yes, your point still stands. As long as they keep inferno mode SMACK YOUR HEAD INTO A WALL style difficult, it should be pretty fun.

I'll wait and play inferno to say that. If I get best items and inferno becomes easy as it was with hell in d2, than they failed. Hope it will not hapen.
True, but they have more experience and feedback now.
They are working specifically to make inferno ridiculously hard, and even have internal bets on how many months it will take the first person to beat inferno.

@slasher
Well that is basically what I meant though.
All the items can be found in both hell and inferno.
The highest inferno item drops will have better stats, but it's still very possible to find very high end gear in hell.

Almost... hell tier items won't be the "same" items, but will have a chance to be "good as" and sometmes better.
Same way as a crude example, you could have scale mail in d2 better then plate mail.

Yeah ok, but that's not really an issue.

It will never become "easy". The main reason is you can't out level the content like you could in Diablo 2.
You will always be 5 levels behind mobs in act 4 inferno.

Edit: Play hell in d2 with low lvl character with good item, and tell me that again. Lvl doesn't mean anything.

and you have done that and you know it?
no one wants to play a bad balanced game and no one knows if a game is bad without ever played it, if D3 has problems the diablo fans will be the first to point it, but making all this statements that you making without ever actualy played hell or inferno is at least pathetic.

Im talking about d2. If mobs where higher level than you, it didnt mean it was hard if you had good items.

That's because diablo 2 (LoD) was easy in general with high end gear.
In diablo 3 they have placed a lot more emphasis on balance, which makes it easier to make the gamer harder.
(Language mindfuck, I know. :P)
