I think we have different opinions of what hard to achieve should be in a game. grinding 10000hours to be allowed to try end game boss is not 'hard' it's 'chinese farmer'. 'hard' should be the boss is really difficult, or the map, or the mobs.
The sense of progression should be like:
Woot I managed to do this map after trying 10-50 times

not:
Woot I finished this map 1000 times now I can go one shot Shaper.

Because yes, I have done all the way to shaper, and could have done more end game but grinding 100hours to unlock 1 boss isn't worth my time. I'd rather spend 100hours trying to kill that boss.

This I actually agree with. I don't know how it is with buying maps but as a self-found player I despise gating things behind low-chance RNG. I'd rather have reasonably easy access to the boss but the boss itself require lots of practice. I've only attempted one of Shaper's guardians once with a couple of friends. I think it was Phoenix. We failed. I seem to have another Phoenix map in my stash but I don't want to run it because who knows when I'll get the next one. I figure I'll need at least 5-10 of them to have a decent shot at beating the boss once.

yes. the damn +1.

Good thing this wasn't my only Exalt this league. I got super-lucky and dropped both an amulet and a blessing from Xoph.
sold the upgraded amulet, which allowed me to get amazing gear. well above what I'm used to playing.
proceeded to kill Guardians and Shaper... which I thought I will never do in this game, despite playing since Open Beta.

But imagine ... what if that amulet never dropped?

RNG is not "hard". RNG is casino dice. and I've been losing for 5 years. now I got one win. that doesn't mean the system is fine. the system is fucked as hell.
Alva: I'm sweating like a hog in heat
Shadow: That was fun

Trying to speak for others? Silly post.
Quit after Legion, rejoined PoE to see what the game's like now in 3.12.
to OP: I disagree with every single statement you did in your post. You clearly don't enjoy the game and what it offers. Why should casual casual casual players decide how the end game should be? Rather listen to people putting down the work and effort of actually achieving something in the game. The debth of path of exile is what keeps the players coming back for more. Take away the incentives of reaching for new goals and you don't have a game anymore

What's the point of making cool content when only streamers and welfare warriors can reach it?

The leagues are 3 months long, if you fail to reach end game by then, that's your problem.
Over 1000 hours in this game and I've yet to try Uber Elder. I have no interest because my builds aren't that strong. I enjoy creating another character after I've mapped for a bit.

The answer to your problem is to play Standard, there you can take all the time you want to do all of the content.
Or get lucky and craft a good item that is mirror worthy to make lots of money.

I agree that PoE currently has to much drop. Just turn off your filters and see for yourself. After killin boss + rare + trash all the screen is littered with items. Full screen of text lol:) That is becoming rediculous tbh. Much better less drop but more valuable, more meaningful!

I think you need to go back to the school...
