The Chisel Bubble: Using currency to roll maps, vs buying maps
" Plus if you are in Standard like me, Alot of maps are very expensive. They are overpriced just like everything else being sold in Standard....... I think buying maps would work for leagues, but not for over-inflated Standard League. |

Since this discussion is talking about maps and worth of currency, I hope this isn't too off topic:
At what tier is it worthwhile due the tier up recipe? (vendor recipe: 3 of the same map to get another map of the same tier) |

"To figure this out, you want to look at the map market and figure out where pricing starts in serious. Everything below a certain Tier is going to sell for about 1 Alch or 1 Chisel, prices don't really go lower. For example, in Talisman SC as of now, up until Tier 7 sells for 1 Alch, but if you search Tier 8 you'll get 2 results of 1 Alch or less, those two don't count. Which means: Tier 6 or less are virtually worthless, Tier 8 and higher have some trade value (even if only about 1c), and it's kinda hard to tell with Tier 7 (maybe 1 Alch, maybe worthless). This means: In Talisman SC, 3-1 formula is just fine to convert Tier 6 (or lower) up to Tier 7. You don't want to turn Tier 8 (or higher) to Tier 9. And Tier 7 to Tier 8 is a bit of a tossup; I'd do it if my build enjoys running unidentified blue maps, by Transmuting the 3 before vendoring them. "You know, I actually did this in my research for the OP. And the results are essentially in the OP: Talisman SC has the cheapest Tier 8 maps, Standard has the most expensive Tier 8 maps, but they're about tied for Tier 11 maps. Sorry, but it's more complicated than "Things in League A cost less/more than things in League B." (I'm guessing the difference in Tier 8 maps is mostly because Standard players don't like getting off their butts for less than 1c or some similar.) " well, it's possible I was looking at the unique maps when I saw the prices then.... Also, if the maps were sold in bunches i.e... buy 10 at a time, buy 20 at a time, buy 30 at a time, then it would be more worth it, as opposed to messaging one person to buy a map for a fuse, messaging another person buy a map for an alch, then messaging another person to buy another map for an alch. That gets to be ridiculous. Since I can easily rip through a map in 5 minutes with my build, that's alot of work, especially considering 1/2 of the people you message never even reply. |

one side note, scrotie: a majority following your advise would increase map prices because a more or less fixed supply would be hit by a increased demand.

"Yep. For the smart people out there, the important part is not which Tier I said to start Alching at, but how I determined which Tier. Market conditions can change everything.
