Pre, what do you this of his idea? wanna know your thoughts on this going for ES and starting
as a Witch?
Since I am already on my new ranger going for Lv43 now haha :D

Considering that fact that I've never tried the build, my input probably isn't worth a whole lot. But I plan on making a bow build in the next league, and have been playing with the new tree.
There is a maddening number of crit nodes available for a crit bow build. The Witch I made was pushing 500% crit chance just from the tree, got to 6 power charges(including the bandit reward) and still had 200% ES off the tree, even got to 5 Frenzy charges and all of that was by level 80.
Which means on a well rolled Harb you can basically cap your crit just from the passive tree + charges. So if you want to go all ES gear that's totally an option. That being said, the Crit + Crit Multi combo that items like Maligaro's have far outweigh what you can manage on the passive tree, but it does mean you have a lot of wiggle room to try to get a good mix of crit, damage and ES by mixing and matching gear and passives when going CI. No idea what the optimal setup would be for that yet, but I see a CI crit bow build being viable, and it's definitely something I intend to try.
Edit: I guess the sensible thing to do would be to drop the Rat's Nest, since with the right passive tree, you can do without the Crit it grants, and then just use a 350+ ES helmet, which depending on the resists and etc. could easily be picked up for a couple chaos. Of course you'd still be missing out on the move and attack speed that the Rat's Nest gives you, but I think that would be the right approach vs. giving up any other piece of gear, and it would immediately make the build much more affordable.
Edit Edit: For more context here's the tree I've come up with so far, I'll include the level 80 one I intend to use, since I don't have the time or patience to level much further than 85, and I'll include a 115 point tree that I spent less than a minute making(so you could probably start spotting obvious optimizations for it right away), just so people can compare numbers with Pre's 115 point tree on the first page.
Edit Edit Edit: If I keep editing this post like this, I might as well go and make my own build thread, but one thing that occurred to me, which is worth mentioning, is that the CI build gets a free Blood Rage, meaning a whole lot of free Frenzy Charges and Leech.
Level 80 - I think the biggest change I need to make is drop the Frenzy charges and get two more +30 Str nodes.
ES Bow defeats a lot of the purposes of this build.
1. No ES on quiver
2. Cannot use Rat's Nest, Maligaro's, or Atziri's Step without sacrificing a huge chunk of your ES pool
3. More expensive to build (only really a problem in new leagues)
4. No acrobatics / phase acrobatics (which is a big chunk of defense, especially for Atziri / other bosses)
5. a lot less runspeed. Using a vaal regalia alone, you already lose 7% move speed (because an Assassin's garb has no runspeed penalty which is +4%, and an implicit of +3%). On top you're not getting the same nodes which should cut some more runspeed, rat's nest which is 10%, ect ect.
6. Less evasion and less damage, because you have to spec near the ES parts of the tree which is away from most bow nodes / evasion nodes.
7. If you're running discipline (because you'll need it with having much lower ES in general) you're either cutting grace or hatred, which is huge.
Going ES bow is a completely different build if you want to be effective with it to make it worth it... and even then I'd still recommend life bow.
8.phys reflect will kill you 100% with an ES build (with acrobatics and like 90% dodge chance (ondars) you mostly survive)
I haven't played this build before and am looking to switch in the next patch. Will this next patch affect the gems that this build uses or can I follow the OP in his gem selection?

absolutely not, but would need vaal pact or acuity for sure
i think even with vaal pact you would kill yourself if you have tons of dps.
but with acuity yes, you would definitly survive.
anyway, i would be happy if someone of you trys the ES-build and post his results here!

Almost everything will remain the same, unless they announce some really gamechanging shit in the patch notes, Like Multiflight(multistsrike for arrows). I think the only change would be switching from PCOC gem to either Projectile Physical Damage OR Weapon Elemental Damage in the 6L Split Arrow. Personally I will use WED because u still get solid dmg from added fire/hatred without boosting the physical portion too high on your AoE.

I got a character all lined up for it, no sense having 2 Summoners so I'm not really missing out on anything by trying, especially since I don't intend to play Standard all that much. I'll probably be using a much weaker bow, like 300 pDPS at most, doubt I'll be able to get a decent 6L, so I'll be using at most a 5L, and it'll only be a level 85 character. So I doubt it'd do a very good job at testing reflect, since my damage won't be nearly as high as someone with a 6L and an amazing bow, and etc.. But I'm sure the results will still be at least interesting.
Going to do a comparison between a 300 pDPS bow and the new buffed Infractem(Assuming the Garena buff makes it over here as well, which is should), since doing that means you can completely skip the Pierce nodes and Gem, and just use another support, and get more damage nodes.
I know it won't be worthwhile compared to a Mirror-worthy bow, or even a mediocre Harbinger bow with good crit, but compared to a bow in the 2-5ex range, Infractem might win by virtue of giving you a potential pseudo 7L when used with Drillneck. So I'm sure it will at least be a very affordable levelling option.
So yeah, I'll let you all know how good/bad/meh it is in a few days.

I don't think they'll announce anything game changing for Puncture or Split Arrow, but then again, looking at Reddit, there's been some pretty significant changes to gems like Viper Strike and Burning Arrow, and the devs did talk about rebalancing a bunch of bow gems, so who knows.
Edit: On a related note, for the sake of CI tankiness, I did dig up this image. Probably not so useful for this build, but it's been needed for a long time, and is good news all the same: http://i.imgur.com/wqUDMYg.jpg

looks like a very good weapon for lvling till lvl80. one problem is it must be used with lgoh, so no CI till a good harbinger is bought, but i'll try to buy this bow for a couple chaos

Yeah, definitely has no use for the CI build I'm planning, just a general curiosity about how much damage you can do with it now. Unfortunately the bow I was going to buy has been sold, and I don't have the 20ex asking price to buy any of the mildly usable Harbingers that are for sale now. So until further notice, I have no idea what I'm going to do about that, but I'll see what I can do.
its cheap but can be a good solution to avoid physical reflect.
Nah, I don't think it'd be worth it, if you want to maximize Puncture damage, then a Drillneck is the way to go. Might be okay for Split Arrow though, but I'd still try to avoid it.
Vaal Pact is probably the way to go until you can afford the nonsense gloves, with Blood Rage and Incandescent Heart you already have 15% leech, most of which you get for free from Blood Rage. Incandescent Heart's a bit more of a trade off though, but since it effectively boost your elemental resists up to 81.25%(If you're at 75% all resists, which is likely what this build will be at.) and does a lot to help with Phys thanks to the Leech, it may be worth looking into. In either case, with the gear I'll be stuck with reflect won't be nearly as big of a deal as it would be for a richer player than me.
