Unless CI or decent HP nodes investment, Chaos will rape your char. My proposal is simple: make Chaos damage act only as a DoT. No more huge damage spikes like the Alchemist bombers, just mobs like the rhoa unique/bears etc. that put a DoT on you. Reason? So you have time to fight, flight or swallow a potion, instead of dying directly. To compensate for some mobs, maybe make their projectile attacks, spines, poison arrows etc. physical damage, then they apply the chaos DoT on target.

The alchemist bombers don't do huge instantaneous damage, though. Serpents are much much spikier - it's the alchemist's poison mines that are a problem because they leave a cloud which can kill you very quickly. To deal with them you just have to engage them first to make sure they're less likely to throw out mines.

I'm only on cruel atm but just running through Vaal ruins is crazy. You get 5-8 of those Cairn Annihilators or whatever then you just need to turn and run. Because if you stand and try to fight you just get lit up.

Been almost a month, bump time.
Why do poison arrow skellys in maps hit me for 3k in 1 second? It's not that I want them to be easy, I just want them to be fair. Chaos damage is broken. Chaos resists on gear? So rare, and what's the chance it rolls with other good mods? How much do I want to gimp myself against everything else just to die slightly less faster against chaos mobs? Should I roll sockets on alternate gear and carry it with me in maps just in case?! Chaos resist passives: Restricted to specific locations in tree. Amethyst flask: I've used them and they saved my butt. But to be effective, you have to use them preemptively, and that doesn't always happen. " Yes, well, I deal with their boosted versions daily in maps. I rarely (maybe one-two times in the last 15 levels?) die because I have my ways to deal with them and they usually have low HP, just good for perma-freezing :) Snakes as well. But hit 2-3 times in a row from some mobs hiding near a corner, or desync near them, and you're done for if not CI. The mines are very hard to notice (if at all, near walls) in the many mobs and huge commotion, and the poison cloud damages almost 2K HP in a second at -60% resi. And getting more chaos resi is to be honest, optional, because the chaos mobs are not a constant appearance in maps, and there are other better useful stats. It is extremely tiresome to: - throw totem - advance to totem - repeat - chaos mobs attack totem? summon skeletons, run like little girl back to thoughtfully consider your options... This is supposedly an ARPG, with quick pace... So yeah... needs some adjusting (not nerfing, just rethinking). placeholder for creative sig

" Well then I suggest to the devs that they spread chaos damage out into more maps and areas of the game. This way players can't be content in simply skipping the areas and will have to deal with the chaos damage one way or another. Chaos damage adds another layer of complexity and challenge to the game. Its one of the mechancis that keep players from instantly being OP. Just my opinion. Standard Forever

Dear Devs,
I find it almost repulsive that I have to craft my own equips to adequately enjoy the game. Give me complete immunity to all sources of damage as compensation since it's obvious I can't fend for myself. Sincerely, More fucking baddies. If you're reading this, I'm probably on another year-long ban.
